🦆BILLY🦆 I wasnt sure about sharing this photo, but this is Billy. He came to me after we believe he got hit with a boat propeller. He has lost the majority of his beak. He has seen a vet who believe he may be recoverable. So....Bill is on a diet of duck mash and water to keep everything easy to scoop. He doesn't appear to have infection and the injury looks like its started to heal. Though he will likely lose some of his tongue and infection needs to be watched for at all times. But its absolutely possible he can recover with alot of care. He is bright eyed and bouncy which is a great sign. And he has eaten alot since being here. And im keeping a close eye on his food intake to make sure he is getting enough and also having supplements to help him.
We also have someone coming this week to measure up for a POTENTIAL 3D Printed beak. Now this may work, it may not. We may have to be a few months down the healing process to really know if its an option. But I dont give up easily on these animals and Bill is no exception. So I will give it my best shot.

🦆FILTHY🦆 Whats a ducks favourite day....a sunny warm muddy one 😂 always a delight to watch these weirdos.
Also...fun Fact....ducks have 3 sets of eyelids! UPPER LOWER & A THIRD Translucent lid called a nictitating membrane this protects their eye under water and when airborne...hence why the mud isn't technically in their eyes.

Had this little one come in tonight with Severe Wry Neck.
Currently syringe feeding all the vitamins.

🦆SPIKE - AN UPDATE 🦆 and answering some of your questions.

1. Has Spike got a Girlfriend? Yes...he is quite bonded to Puddles the brown runner & has been for a really long time

2. Is Spike a Dad? Mmm Not YET....BUT Puddles is currently nesting!! And that means there is a high chance Spike will be a daddy! But we won't ever know 100% but if one comes out looking a bit Mallardy...i will be assuming Spike is the Daddy

3. Does he see his Human Dad? Yes of course, Riyadh is a very very close friend and visits as often as he can. He also has regular facetimes and I send photos all the time!

4. Is Spike affectionate towards people? Nooope 😂 Spike has bitten me more times than I can count. He does recognise Riyadhs voice but generally doesn't have any interest in people

5. What happens now Spike can fly? Well this was always the plan that Spike could be relatively wild, is he wild? Nope 😂 Spike tbh is rather lazy...he very rarely flies. Sometimes he flys in the morning out of the duck house, but honestly thats about it.
6. Does he come in easily at night? Yes...one of the first. Spikes very good led, he will basically only move his butt if food is involved, so the second i come outside he knows its dinner time so goes straight in.

7. Why isn't Spike Brown anymore? ALL MALLARDS START BROWN...I have that tattooed on my leg in Riyadhs handwriting 😂 he grew up...got his big boy feathers 🪶

8. Does he have a Curly Butt Feather? Ohh he has 3...one really curly, and 2 less curly.

9. What are his favourite snacks? Meal worms & Watermelon. That big looks like he committed a crime when he is covered in melon 😂

10. Does Spike get on with everyone? Well no ducks get on with everyone all the time. But tbh he is quite lazy so fighting isn't something he involves himself in...far to much energy 😂

11. Has being hand raised effected him? No not really, his fear level is probably lower than a wild mallard, but most mallards can be tamed if hand fed everyday so its definitely not caused him an issue
