Zooming in to expose all...

An overwhelming number of people were interested in how knowing how I safely have the product so close to the cuticle so here goes!

I've done a couple of training courses over the last 6 months in russian manicures, really when I did my first one it was purely because I was seeing other techs so it and I felt like I had to to keep up with a "trend". In reality, it's far more than this.

I've learnt how to open the promixal fold (the top of the cuticle) and the side walls safely and comfortably to then allow me to remove any non living tissue with an efile in such a way that further opens up those areas and cleans away any debris. I use a brush to clean away dust every 6-10 seconds, literally, so I can see exactly what I'm doing, where the tool is going, and identify any more dry and dead skin that can be removed.

I use cuticle scissors but instead of using the whole blade, I use the very end of them, only 2-3mm for maximum control and comfort for my clients!

Something else I also do which seems to have shocked a few people, is constantly ask whether it's comfortable. Apparently not everyone does this, but just because it's not uncomfortable doesn't mean that everyone likes the sensation so communication is key to me!

No manicure, russian or otherwise, should be painful AT ALL, and if there is any discomfort, no matter how small, your technician should immediately stop working on this area and should move on!

All of this, alongside a thorough cleaning process to remove all dust and particles enables me to tuck the product as close to the skin as possible without actually touching it.

I don't rush so I can do a thorough job and my clients go away with a service they're happy with.

If you have any further questions please feel free to message me, but do you feel like you come away from your appointments with neatly tucked product or a manicure that already looks like it has a week of growth? 🙈
