C-section recovery needs more education. Full stop.
When around 45% of deliveries in UK are now by caesarean, this isn't a small group of women we're talking about.
And yet so much of the focus is still:
Has the wound closed?
Any infection?
Looks okay?
Great.
But I started noticing there was often a much bigger story.
I could see it in posture and movement.
I could feel it through the tissues - restriction, pulling, guarding, areas that felt completely different from one side to the other.
Women would tell me they still couldn't touch their scar years later.
Or that it felt numb.
Or tight.
Or that their abdomen, back, hips, breathing or digestion had never felt quite the same since their birth.
Some have pain, some changes to bladder & bowel.
That is why I trained in C-section Scar Therapy.
By working with bodies, listening to women, studying anatomy, fascia, lymphatics, the nervous system, scar tissue and recovery... then thinking and linking what I were seeing over and over again.
Because a C-section scar doesn't exist in isolation.
It sits within an abdominal wall that moves when we breathe.
It connects into fascia.
The abdominal wall works alongside the pelvic floor and diaphragm.
There are nerves, blood vessels and lymphatic vessels within and around those tissues.
And then there is the woman attached to all of it - including how she experienced the birth.
So yes, a scar can look beautifully healed on the outside.
But that should never be the end of the conversation.
We need more education around C-section recovery.
More women understanding their own bodies.
And far more acknowledgement that recovery from major abdominal surgery while simultaneously keeping a newborn alive is actually a pretty massive deal.
C-section mamas really are another level

Here’s the thing no one talks about when you’re expecting.
You compare prams for weeks. You read the reviews, pick the colour and check out without a second thought.
Four figures, done.
Then someone mentions postnatal care, and suddenly it feels like too much. A luxury. Something other women get.
You have every baby gadget going, made the nursery look beautiful but you’re running on empty. Who is caring for you?
Your body has just grown and birthed a little human. That’s kinda incredible. So why aren’t you worth some professional recovery care?
Postnatal massage:
* Relieves Muscle Aches: Eases tightness in the lower back, neck, and shoulders caused by labour, delivery, doing things us mums need to do - like lifting, holding, and feeding.
* Reduces Swelling: Stimulates the lymphatic system and blood circulation to help flush out excess fluids and water retention accumulated during pregnancy
* Supports Uterine and Pelvic Alignment: Assists the uterus in returning to its pre-pregnancy size and helps bring the pelvis and loosened ligaments back into balance.
* Regulates Hormones: Lowers stress hormones while supporting feel-good and bonding hormones.
* Enhances Breastfeeding: Helps increase levels of prolactin (the milk-producing hormone) and relieves upper-body tension that makes nursing uncomfortable.
* Improves Sleep and Mood: Promotes deep delta brain waves for better rest, eases fatigue, and helps reduce symptoms of the “baby blues”.
Be kind to yourself mamma. You’re doing an amazing job, just don’t forget to look after yourself too 💕

Bertie and I need your help! Somehow, all my google reviews have been deleted 😩 That’s 18 years of reviews. I’m now ranking low on google when I used to be at the top. Bertie’s love of the very expensive Lily’s Kitchen dog food is at the risk of being replaced with a Tesco’s own brand. Do it for Bertie! Please leave me a review. Thanks ladies 💕
