LET ME REINTRODUCE MYSELF…

There are quite a few new faces here lately, so I thought it was probably time I said hello properly.

I’m Lisa, the face behind BARE Skin.

I’m 45, 46 next birthday, mum of four & very soon to be Nanny Lisa for the first time in January šŸ¤

The two photos here are me, nearly 11 years apart. Both completely make up and filter free.

And believe me, a LOT has happened between those two pictures.

I’ve learnt about skin.
I’ve studied it.
I’ve tried things that worked brilliantly and things I probably wouldn’t bother with again.
I’ve learnt that expensive doesn’t always mean better, deeper doesn’t always mean better and more definitely doesn’t always mean better.

Most importantly, I’ve learnt that I don’t want to fight ageing.

I just want to look like me, but better.

That’s pretty much the whole ethos behind BARE.

I love natural tweaks. I love healthy skin. I love treatments that work with your face rather than changing it. I want my clients to still look completely like themselves — just fresher, healthier and more confident in their own skin.

And BARE has grown into more than skin too.

I absolutely love lymphatic drainage & everything it can do beyond how we look. For me it’s about health, recovery, reducing that heavy, sluggish feeling, supporting the body & actually taking care of our lymphatic system rather than treating it as another beauty trend. It does more for your skin health than you would ever believe

Away from the treatment room, I’m a mum of four, I love holidays (although I absolutely hate flying šŸ˜‚), good food, sunsets, being at home, and probably talking far too much once you get me started.

In January I’m entering a completely new era when I become a nanny for the first time… which I still can’t quite believe I’m old enough to say!

BARE is very much an extension of me.

No judgement.
No pressure.
No trying to change your face.
No pretending ageing isn’t happening.

Just everything I’ve learnt over the years, shared with the people who trust me with their skin, face & body.

Because I’m not interested in making you look like somebody else.
I want you to look beautifully like you.

BARE Skin — you, but better.

So… where does all that fluid actually go after lymphatic drainage?

This is probably one of the questions I get asked the most — especially when you tell me you’re desperate for a wee after your treatment šŸ˜‚

And no… I haven’t physically pushed all that fluid down to your bladder!

Lymphatic drainage works with your body’s own lymphatic system, using gentle, rhythmic movements to encourage lymph fluid along its natural pathways, through the lymph nodes and eventually back into your bloodstream.

From there, your body continues doing what it is designed to do — with your kidneys helping regulate fluid balance and your liver, lungs and gut all playing their own roles in processing and removing waste.

So when you hear phrases like ā€œflushing out toxinsā€, it’s actually a little more complicated than that.

I’m not detoxing your body for you.

I’m supporting a system that is already working for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

And that, for me, is what lymphatic drainage is all about — working with your body, not against it.

Save this one for the next time you’re wondering where all that fluid actually goes.

Why I assess your body BEFORE I start your post-op lymphatic drainage

Post-surgery lymphatic drainage should never be a case of getting you on the bed and doing exactly the same treatment every time.

Before I begin, I use my hands to gently assess your tissues and understand what’s happening that day.

I’m feeling for areas of swelling and fluid build-up, changes in tissue texture, firmness or hardening, and anything that could suggest fibrosis is beginning to develop.

I’m also checking for unusual pockets of fluid that could potentially be a seroma and need further assessment by your surgical or medical team.

I compare both sides of the body, looking at symmetry and noticing where swelling may be more concentrated or where the tissue feels different.

I’ll also check sensation. Numbness, tingling and altered sensation can be common following surgery, so how your body responds to touch helps me adapt the pressure and treatment accordingly.

And importantly, I’m monitoring change.

Your body can feel completely different from one appointment to the next as healing progresses. What needed attention last week might not be what needs attention today.

Everything I feel during that initial assessment helps guide your treatment — where I work, how I work, where I spend more time and, just as importantly, where I don’t.

Because good post-op lymphatic drainage isn’t just about massage.

It starts with listening to the body first.

Just checking that you booked your appointment… because it’s officially SKIN BOOSTER SEASON.

Summer is coming to an end, the weather is changing and after months of sunshine, SPF, holidays, heat and probably a few too many Aperols… our skin can start to feel a little bit depleted.

Autumn is one of my favourite times to start putting that hydration back in.

Skin boosters aren’t about changing your face. They’re about improving the skin itself — hydration, elasticity, texture, that crepey feeling and the overall quality of your skin.

Think juicier, healthier, fresher-looking skin, rather than filler or added volume.

And this is also the time I start talking to my clients about collagen banking. We can’t stop collagen declining as we age, but we absolutely can support our skin and give it a little encouragement along the way.

At BARE, I’ll always recommend the treatment that suits your skin, rather than whatever happens to be trending on Instagram.

So yes… consider this your little reminder.

Skin booster season has officially begun.

ā€œWhat if I can’t afford loads of expensive skincare products?ā€

Then please tell me.

There is absolutely no embarrassment in having a budget, and I will never make you feel like good skin means leaving my clinic with a bag full of expensive products.

Skincare doesn’t need to be complicated.
And it definitely doesn’t need to be a 10-step routine.

I’d much rather look at what you’re already using, what’s actually working for you, and where your money would be best spent.

Sometimes that might mean changing one product.
Sometimes it might mean adding one really good active.
And sometimes I’ll tell you to carry on using exactly what you already have.

If I recommend something, I’ll explain why I think your skin would benefit from it — but it is always a recommendation, never an expectation.

And please don’t ever think you need to buy the products I stock or use. If there’s something more affordable that will do the job, I’m more than happy to point you in that direction too.

Your appointment WILL NEVER feel like a sales pitch.

Tell me your skin concerns.
Tell me your budget.
And we’ll work with both.

That’s what BARE is about — real skin, real life, and absolutely no judgement. šŸ¤Ž
