There is a difference between medical needling and cosmetic microneedling. 💉
The terms get used interchangeably a lot but they are not exactly the same thing.
Cosmetic microneedling uses shorter needle depths and focuses on overall skin texture,
hydration, fine lines and product absorption. It works more superficially within the skin.
Medical needling uses longer needle depths and targets deeper skin concerns including scars,
stretch marks and significant collagen remodelling. It creates a controlled healing response that
stimulates new collagen and elastin production at a deeper level.
When it comes to scar revision, medical needling is often the preferred approach because it can
reach the deeper layers of tissue where scar formation occurs. Over a course of treatments it
can improve scar texture, flexibility, thickness and overall appearance.
Every scar is different. The age of the scar, its location and your skin’s own healing response all
influence the outcome.
