If you have a larger booking, I may be able to pay for the chair for longer, so please message me to discuss.

• Thursday evening: from 5pm
• Friday: 4pm – around 7pm
• Saturday: 9am – around 2pm

There will be an additional £5 charge for appointments on these days/times, as this is outside my usual availability and covers the extra cost involved.

💷 PRICE UPDATE

Unfortunately, my prices will be increasing.

I’ve recently started renting a barbering chair, and with the cost of chair rent, my wages have become extremely low. My prices have always been among the lowest, but I now need to increase most haircuts by £2.50 to help cover these costs.

❤️ Pensioners, children’s haircuts and buzz cuts will remain at their current prices. £10.50

But the more you book I'll try give a small discount for multiple cut bookings.

I'll post all prices over the weekend ( Sunday but price gone up by £2.50.

I’m genuinely sorry for any inconvenience the price increase may cause. I’ve tried my best to keep my prices as affordable as possible, but I need to make sure the business is sustainable too.

💈 CHANGE OF NAME… AGAIN! 😂🤦‍♀️

Sorry everyone, but we’ve had another little name change! 🤣

Now I’m officially GM Cuts ✂️

G = Gemma
M = Mitchley / Mobile
And apparently GM = The Boss 😂👑 (only my own boss 🤣)

I’m now renting a chair at Bella’s Hair Boutique, Ashurst Shops ❤️

✂️ MY NEW SET SHOP HOURS

As I’m renting the chair, these are my set salon hours:

🗓️ Friday: 4pm – 7pm
🗓️ Saturday: 9am – 2pm

Outside of these hours, I may still be doing a small amount of mobile appointments, but these will be private booking only.

I also just want to say a massive sorry for all the changes recently ❤️

Unfortunately, my dad has had a stroke and is no longer able to help me with childcare like he used to. This has meant I’ve had to completely rethink my working hours around the Harry childcare.

So for the time being, these hours will be my new normal ❤️

Hopefully, once Harry is back in school, I may be able to increase my hours again and offer more appointments. 🤞🍀

📢 Important price & booking update

Unfortunately, because of the ongoing rise in costs, the additional cost of renting a salon chair and the increasing cost of my Booksy account, I’ve had no choice but to review my prices and cancellation policy.

I’ve only increased my prices once in the last 7 years — and that was by just 50p. I’ve always tried my best to keep my prices as affordable as possible.

However, yesterday I had 7 people cancel across just 2 bookings, which basically wiped out almost my entire working day. 😔

I completely understand that things happen and sometimes appointments need to be cancelled, but I now have to protect my business from losing whole days of work.

✂️ New prices

Dad and lad (9 and under). From £20 skin fades not included.
Adults standard haircut — £12.50
Skin fade — £15.50
Kids skin fade — £12.50

As mentioned in my previous post, children’s haircuts, OAP haircuts and standard buzz cuts (NOT skin fades) are now all the same price because they receive the same amount of appointment time:

£10.50

💜 Multiple bookings will still receive a little discount.

If you already have an appointment booked at the previous price, I will honour that price.

📅 Cancellation policy

For bookings of 3 or more people, a £5 per person booking fee will be required.

I will need 24 hours’ notice per haircut if you need to cancel.

For example, if 3 people are booked together, I would need 72 hours’ notice (3 days) to cancel the full booking.

The deposit system will also be changing. Deposits will no longer be refundable if the required cancellation notice isn’t given.

I really don’t want to put my prices up, and these increases aren’t about making extra money for me. They are simply to help cover the increasing costs of running my business, including chair rent, Booksy, products, tools, insurance and other expenses.

I’m still trying to keep my prices as reasonable as I possibly can. ❤️

At the moment, renting a chair will most likely mean Saturdays, although I’m looking into other days too. Childcare is unfortunately making things difficult at the moment.

I’m hoping Harry will be back in school in October 🤞🍀 and, if everything goes to plan, I’ll hopefully be able to add more working hours again.

A little update ❤️

Unfortunately, my dad has recently had a stroke, and it has affected his speech, memory and ability to read. He is still in hospital, and we are now trying to work out what his new normal will look like and what care and support he will need when he comes home.

This has been an incredibly stressful and emotional time for my dad and the whole family. ❤️

My dad was also my childcare for Harry, so this has unfortunately affected my work too. While we get everything sorted, I will be working Saturday and Sunday mornings until Harry hopefully returns to school in October 🤞🍀

If you already have an mobile appointment booked with me, could I please ask you to bear with me and, where possible, try to reschedule your mobile appointment? I’m so sorry for the inconvenience and really appreciate everyone's patience and understanding.

I’m still looking at getting a chair in a salon as soon as possible, so I can hopefully get back to some normality and offer more appointments.

Right now, my priority is caring for my dad while he’s in hospital and helping to get everything in place for when he comes home.

😢 A little update

My dad was taken ill on Friday and has now been discharged, but he is still recovering. He has experienced some memory loss, and we are still looking into why this has happened.

My dad helps me a lot with childcare, so unfortunately I need to rethink my working hours while we sort out his care and support him getting better. I may need to work weekends only for the time being.

I will contact everyone individually and do my best to rearrange your appointments.

💈✨ A LITTLE UPDATE ABOUT MY BUSINESS ✨💈

I’ve been having a really good think about the best way to move forward with my business, and I think I’ve finally come up with a plan that should hopefully work for me, my clients and my family. ❤️

I’m currently looking into becoming salon-based 2 days a week, rather than being completely mobile.

💜 The plan so far:
📅 Friday & Saturday (half days)
⏰ Times to be confirmed
💈 Salon details to be confirmed once everything is finalised
📆 Start date to be confirmed

I’m hoping that by having a regular salon base, I can offer a more reliable service while also having a better balance with family life. ❤️

I will still hopefully be able to offer some mobile appointments too, especially for clients who genuinely can’t travel to the salon.

🚗 I may be able to offer:
✨ Some Thursday mobile appointments
✨ Possibly some mobile appointments before and after my salon days.

I’m hoping this way I can keep seeing as many of my lovely existing clients as possible, rather than losing too many clients because of the changes. 🥰

💈 I’m also planning to stay APPOINTMENT ONLY at the salon.

This is really important to me because it means I can manage my time properly, be reliable with appointments and still have a good balance between work and family life.

It will also mean there will still be appointments available for my existing clients, friends and family. ❤️

💷 A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT PRICES 💷

Unfortunately, becoming salon-based does mean that I will have some extra costs to cover.

When you're self-employed, the expenses really do add up — including:

💈 Chair rent
📱 Booking app costs
✂️ Products
🔧 Replacing and maintaining tools
🚗 Travel expenses
💷 And all the other costs involved in running a small business.

With the cost of living being so high, I have always tried my absolute best to keep my prices as low and affordable as possible. ❤️

But unfortunately, I don't think I can keep absorbing all of these extra costs anymore.

I have already increased my prices for kids, clipper cuts and O.A.P. appointments, so I won't be increasing those prices again. ❤️

I may need to increase my standard haircuts and skin fades by around £2 to help cover the additional salon costs.

However, I really don't want to make things difficult for my regular clients, so I'm also looking at offering a couple of pounds off when booking multiple/group haircuts together. 🥰

Hopefully, that way we can meet somewhere in the middle. ❤️

I completely understand that everyone is feeling the pressure of the cost of living at the moment, and I really do appreciate every single person who continues to support my little business.

I'm trying my best to find a way of making this work for everyone while also making sure my business is sustainable and that I'm not working for less than the cost of running it. 💜

My mobile barbering has been going really well, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported me since making the move to mobile! 🥰✂️🚗

BUT… it could be a little while before I pass my driving test, so I’m starting to look for a local space or chair to rent.

📍 I need somewhere local to me, so I can get to work easily and, most importantly, get back to Harry quickly if needed — including school runs and childcare.

I’m ideally looking to work around 3–4 half days a week, with some flexibility around family life.

I’d consider renting a space in:
💈 A barbershop
💇‍♀️ A hairdressers
💅 A beauty salon
☀️ Even a sunbed shop or another suitable local business

I’m also trained in some holistic and beauty treatments, as well as hair colouring and shaving, so I could potentially offer some additional services if it worked well for the business.

However, I’m also more than happy to keep it simple and just offer barbering and shaving if that would suit the business better. ✂️🪒

I’d be happy to keep everything appointment-only through my Booksy, so I can work around my family commitments while still being reliable and professional. 📱❤️

I’ve been barbering since 2001, so I have lots of experience behind the chair and would love to find a little local base while I continue building my mobile business.
