🍃 What causes a spray tan to turn green? 🍃

Green patches during a spray tan are usually the result of some type of product, or product residue on the skins surface. Even after showering some debris or residue can still remain on the skin especially around the underarm and neck area.

What is DHA?

🤎 DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is the active ingredient in spray tan solution and it works by reacting with the air and the amino acids on the surface of the skin - it darkens the top layer of cells gradually, resulting in a natural-looking tan.

At your spray tan appointment I will advise on percentages depending on your skin tone, hair colour and even eye colour. How well do you tan in the sun naturally? What is your desired outcome?

Obviously, I want you to achieve the flawless tan you want - whether that be a striking golden hue, a softer, more subtle look or a deeper mediterranean bronze. So I will tailor your treatment to create the perfect colour for you by choosing the correct percentage of DHA 🤎🥥

🤎To patch test or not to patch test, that is the question 🤎

If this is going to be your first time getting a professional spray tan, the first step is always to have a patch test.

The process of a patch test is really quick and simple, and is undertaken by dabbing a small amount of tan behind your ear or within the inner crease of the elbow to test how your skin will react to the tan.

A patch test is always recommended to ensure the formula is suitable for your skin. On some occasions, your skin may react negatively to the tan, which is something a patch test will reveal.

I always recommend this is done at least 24-48 hours ahead of your appointment.

Please don't be afraid to ask for a patch test if this is not your first tan but things have changed since your last one.
