At MacFarlane Physiotherapy we have been monitoring the Coronavirus outbreak carefully. We have now decided that the most responsible decision for patients, staff and the wider community is to move all patients to remote treatment where possible. This does mean that until the situation changes, we will not be offering face-to-face appointments within the clinic.
All private paying patients will be offered remote treatments.
If you are being treated via an insurance claim, we are in discussions with all referral partners to get authorisation to move you to remote treatments.
Each patient will be called by a member of our team to advise you on the next course of action. In addition, we will also be providing updates via text message and email address to those patients where possible.
For more information please visit https://www.macfarlanephysio.co.uk/remote-treatments/. We are updating this page regularly but if it does not answer any questions you may have please reach out via phone on 01786 583259 or email [email protected].
On a personal note, we are forever grateful to those loyal patients who are working with us to enable us to get through this situation. Everyone in the community is going through a tough time; personally, professionally and financially. Our love and best wishes are with all of you and we hope to see you all again in person when this crisis is over.

Coronavirus Update - Clinic Open As Normal
With numbers of confirmed cases rising, we ask that any patients presenting even the most minor symptoms of refrain from coming into the clinic.
Please call to cancel your appointment if you have confirmed or possible coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. We will review each cancelled patient on a case by case basis to offer phone or Skype advice to enable any affected patients to continue exercises from home.
We do request that all visitors to the clinic wash their hands immediately upon arrival.
We always follow best hygiene practice within the clinic, however, we are now extending this to ensure all public areas of the clinic are wiped down regularly throughout the day as well as a range of other measures.
We completely realise that although you yourself may feel in control of any symptoms, we do have to protect a large number of at-risk-groups, as well as our staff and our ability to care for our community.
IMPORTANT: if you are certain you have symptoms of the virus, please follow guidance https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance
In the interests of your own health, our staff and other patients, we would like to remind all patients or visitors to wash your hands immediately when you arrive at the clinic.
Washing your hands should take about as long as it takes you to sing Happy Birthday twice before you're finished. We'll leave it up to you if you want to sing it out loud or to yourself ;)
Need help with lower limb rehabilitation, we now have a treadmill to help with running and or walking gait assessments and re-education 🙂

It's the simple things make a physio smile. Do I love waiting at the train station in what feels like the small hours of the morning, maybe not but when you see the person next to you doing their physio exercises it makes me smile from the inside out 😁
I have a life outside of being a physio too so I 100% understand how difficult it can be too fit in the exercises. At MacFarlane Physiotherapy we do everything we can to get your exercise to fit into your daily routine. We want you to smash your goals as much as you do, whether your goal is running a marathon or waking up in the morning with less pain, let's get you there 🏅

When we assess shoulders we spend a lot of time looking at how your shoulder blades move, this is what we are seeing under the surface.
The coordination of these muscles is so important and when it goes wrong it can cause a lot of shoulder pain.
Great post that just had to be shared.
