Post-Liposuction Fibrosis in Lipedema Patients ☁️

Liposuction can be life-changing for people living with lipedema, but the operation itself is only one part of the journey. Specialist post-operative care matters.

During liposuction, the cannula creates controlled trauma beneath the skin while removing fat. As the body heals, collagen is produced to repair the tissues. In some patients, this healing response can become excessive or uneven, resulting in areas of fibrosis, adhesions, firmness and tethering beneath the skin.

This can contribute to the pulled-in, folded or uneven appearance like my client here. ➡️➡️

It’s one of the reasons I have such a huge interest in supporting lipedema patients throughout their recovery, not simply immediately after surgery.

My Post-Op Course has been developed to help practitioners better understand the healing process, recognise complications such as fibrosis and learn how to support patients safely and appropriately through each stage of recovery.

For me, post-op treatment isn’t about simply performing a massage. It’s about understanding the surgery, the tissue, the lymphatic system, the healing response and the individual patient in front of you.
