Left: Day 3. After being freshly poured and cured for 48 hours, the balm shows superficial cooling wrinkles from the initial flash-chill sequence.

Right: End of Cycle 1. After spending 24 hours in a deep freeze and 24 hours thawing at room temperature, the surface wrinkles have completely self-healed. The thermal shock forced the wax scaffold to relax its tension and shift into a tighter, more uniform crystal grid.

The result? A smoother, brighter finish that proves the lipid matrix is locked down and structurally uncompromised.

Cycle 1 verdict: ✅ PASS✨

Left: Fresh out of refrigeration, showing surface oil exudation (syneresis). The rapid cold caused the high-performance vegan wax scaffold to squeeze a layer of liquid oil to the top.

Right: 24 hours later. The surface oil has been completely re-absorbed via capillary action as the lipid matrix relaxed at room temperature. The uniform semicircle of white micro-dots is the visual fingerprint of fractional wax crystallisation — proving the balm snap-set flawlessly from the outside walls inward to lock in a grainy-free texture. Hand-poured chemistry that naturally self-corrects. Ready for incubator testing this Friday🤞🏻🧪

Here is the result from my ‘one last try’ today… and I must say, it’s the best one I’ve made and I am feeling hopeful! It’s flat, looks smooth, and has a lovely colour. The slight wrinkling around the edges is actually a great sign because it shows the formula has built a solid wax scaffold, and there is very little to no blooming. The only imperfection at present is a tiny bit of ‘sweating,’ which is just the liquid oil settling into the wax matrix. At this stage, this is completely normal—the balm is highly likely to reabsorb this as the wax and butter matrix do their final molecular dance into their forever positions over the next 48 hours. ✨🧪
