Joanna Morris, chief executive at Shropshire Community Foundation, visited our HQ to present the Shropshire Investors in Community (SIIC) Silver Award to the team in recognition of our grants supporting communities across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.

The award recognises the difference our grants make to local people, projects and community groups across the county.

Thank you to Joanna — pictured here with Val Hardy and Roger Cox — and to everyone who has worked with us to make this happen.

Don't miss the latest Shropshire Business - magazine and website Podcast where Carl Jones chats with our contracts director Andrew Dunham about his 30 years with the company, the legacy of founder Jim McPhillips and why our people always come first.

Andrew also opens up about his love of animals (yes, alpacas) and why working at Chester Zoo is one of his more memorable projects to date!

We're all set up for our 5-a-side charity football tournament in support of Mates in Mind, raising awareness of mental health in the construction industry.

And a special shoutout to Jack Clements and Laura Howdill from Mates in Mind for organising

Great to see so many companies coming together on the pitch for a good cause!

Great to welcome our Severn Trent colleagues to the Gilson Road site in Coleshill.

They toured the works we’re delivering for Avove Utilities, including a sewer cleanse and ground investigation as part of the HS2 project.

You can see the impressive HS2 structure crossing the M42 in the background. 🚄

It was a pleasure to welcome the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards judges to our HQ on Friday.

It was a great chance to show Mandy Thorn from Shropshire Community Foundation, and Amanda Berry and Hayley Norgrove from Dulson Training the breadth of what we do – from our apprenticeship programme and skills development to supply chain support, volunteering and our working in the community where more than 1,000 people have benefitted.

We're proud to be shortlisted for the Business in the Community award alongside some fantastic fellow finalists. Exotic Zoo, In-Comm Training & Business Services, R1 Construction and Brightstar

Good luck to everyone in the running! 🤞

In year one our community fund helped more than 1,200 people across Shropshire.

Our fund helped back six local grassroots projects focused on mental health, reducing social isolation and long-term wellbeing.

Working with some amazing local charities like Brightstar , we helped fund a programme that boosted young people’s confidence, with every single participant reporting a positive impact on their life, whilst the 4 All Foundation described the well-being sessions we funded as “a lifeline for local people.”

Chris Jones, our strategic development manager, attended UK-REiiF to discuss upcoming growth in the West Midlands, regeneration and investment.

It’s an exciting time for the region, with £11bn of investment driving long-term development.

He also heard from Nick Smith of Birmingham City FC talk about plans for the sports quarter and the wider opportunities this could bring to Birmingham and the Midlands.

If you’re exploring development or partnership opportunities, get in touch.

Talbot Park is open and it's a project we're really proud of.

The £4.23m scheme for Wyre Forest District Council has transformed the former Woolworths site into a modern public space with new landscaping, paving, seating, LED lighting and children's play area.

Technically it was a demanding project but as always the team took it all in their stride.
