You might notice I talk about skin and ageing a little differently here.

I’m not interested in convincing every woman over 40 that she needs fixing. Ageing is normal.

But equally, you’re allowed to look in the mirror and think “I’d quite like to improve that.”

Both things can be true.

My job isn’t to make you look younger or turn you into somebody else. It’s to listen to what’s bothering you, explain what’s realistically possible and sometimes tell you when I don’t think a treatment is worth your money.

So if you’re new here, welcome to The Birdcage.

Expect skin rejuvenation, natural results, honest opinions and probably the occasional inappropriate amount of sarcasm 🙈.

And so it begins …. Autumn nails have begun 🎃

It’s something I hear all the time.

You don’t necessarily want filler. You don’t want to look different. You just want your skin to look fresher, smoother and more like you again.

That’s exactly what was achieved for this client. Softer lines. Smoother skin. Nothing obvious.

Can we talk about the moment you suddenly notice THAT thing on your face? 😂

You can be happily minding your own business for years…Then one morning you look in the mirror and think:

“Excuse me… when did THAT happen?!”

Maybe it’s your jowls.

The line between your eyebrows.

Your neck.

Those little lines above your lip.

Your eyes suddenly looking permanently tired.

Or the fact that your face somehow doesn’t look quite like the face you have in your head anymore. 😂

And here’s the important bit… You don’t have to hate ageing to want to improve something that’s bothering you.

You also don’t have to fill every line, freeze every muscle or try to look 25 again.

Sometimes you just want to look in the mirror and think:

“Yep. That’s more like me.”

That’s exactly how I approach aesthetics at The Birdcage.

Natural changes.

Realistic expectations.

And occasionally me saying:

“Nope. You don’t need that.” 😂

So I’m curious…

What was YOUR “when did THAT happen?!” moment?

8am this morning Chris told me it was time to get up… I really didn’t want to 😂

I could quite happily have rolled over, pulled the duvet back up and gone straight back to sleep.

Instead, I dragged my backside out of bed, threw on my running clothes and braved the 9° Stewart’s Park Run 🥶🏃🏼‍♀️.

Was it my best time? Nope.

Did I do it? Yep. 🙌🏼

And I felt SO much better afterwards.

I could have said “I’ll start next week”… but putting it off wouldn’t get me any closer to my 10K goal for November.

And it got me thinking… your skin is exactly the same.

If you’re already thinking:

✨ “I want my skin looking better for Christmas.”
✨ “I want to feel fresher for the Christmas parties.”
✨ “I really need to start looking after my skin.”
✨ “I’ll book something nearer the time…”

Don’t wait until December.

Treatments that work on skin quality, collagen production, hydration and regeneration need time. Your skin doesn’t transform overnight, the improvements build gradually.

Starting now gives us the next couple of months to actually work on your concerns rather than trying to perform a Christmas miracle the week before the party 😂🎄.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆…

Putting things off won’t get things done. Starting sooner gets you closer to the goal sooner.

So if better skin by Christmas is your goal, October is a pretty good time to get your backside out of bed and start. 😉😂

First Friday back in The Birdcage and I’m not going to lie…

Getting back into work mode after nearly a month in Florida has been a 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲 😂.

One minute I’m wandering around in the sunshine wondering what rollercoaster to go on or where we’re eating next… Next minute I’m back in Middlesbrough with gloves on discussing collagen loss. 😂

But I genuinely missed this place.

I missed my clients, our chats, planning treatments and that moment when someone looks in the mirror and you can see they’re genuinely pleased with what we’ve achieved.

Six years in and I still never take it for granted that you choose me with your face and your skin.

Especially when there are so many places you could go.

So if you’ve already been back through the Birdcage doors this week, thank you. 💙
