Nobody really talks about how hard this industry can be mentally sometimes 🙈

The comparison.
The self doubt.
The pressure to constantly be better, post more, do more.

Truthfully? A lot of talented makeup artists don’t fail because they aren’t good enough 👀 they quit too soon.

You do NOT need the most expensive kit to become successful.
You do NOT need to know everything before you start.
And you definitely don’t need to wait until you feel confident.

Confidence is built through doing.
Through posting anyway.
Through making mistakes.
Through practicing on different skin tones, faces & styles.
Through learning real techniques instead of chasing every trend online 👏🏽👏🏽

One slow season doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
One bad experience doesn’t define your talent.
And somebody else doing well does not take away from what’s possible for you

Every successtul MUA started somewhere.
Messy.
Unsure.
Learning as they went.
Keep going
Always remember this is a perseverance career!
You must learn to be your own cheerleader 🕺🏼

POV: the glam is done, the bride looks stunning, and now it’s time to pack up the kit 🖤✨

One thing people don’t really see about being a bridal hair & makeup artist is everything that happens after the finished look photos. Packing away a full kit, sanitising products, checking you haven’t left pins everywhere 😂 and yes… tidying the hotel room before leaving because I physically cannot walk out leaving chaos behind 😭 on this occasion I didn’t have to leave the room so had the time to tidy! This doesn’t always happen 🙈

It’s long hours, early mornings, heavy bags, and running on adrenaline sometimes 😩 but I honestly love every second of it. Being part of someone’s wedding morning is such a privilege and I never take that lightly 🤍

Any other MUAs or hairstylists always end up doing a full clean-up before they leave too? 😅👇🏽

There’s honestly nothing I love more than being part of such a special moment in someone’s life. From the early starts, the calm before the ceremony, the laughter with the bridal party, the final touch ups 🥹 I genuinely love every part of it.

I think what makes me love this job so much is knowing it’s not just about hair and makeup. It’s about helping someone feel confident, relaxed and like the best version of themselves on a day they’ll remember forever ✨

27 years in makeup and I still get excited for every single wedding morning 🫶🏽

GRWM using some new bits and I’m obsessed 👀

I’m using the Kabuki Brush and the application
😮‍💨 it’s super soft and buffs
everything in so smoothly and gives that smooth, airbrushed finish without looking heavy. The bristles are insanely soft and I love how evenly it blends my powder products

Finished it off with the Wonderskin Lip Rehab Therapy Oil and wow! my lips feel so hydrated and glossy but not sticky at all, I got the shade Kissed “It’s one of those that actually feels like it’s treating your lips while making them look good, the colour lasted all day

This combo just makes everything look polished but still skin-like... exactly what I want right now 🩷

The rest of my makeup routine

One thing about me, I have to set up in a way that feels comfortable and works for me on a wedding morning 🤍

Over the years I’ve realised being organised doesn’t just make me faster, it helps me stay calm and efficient too. I don’t like having loads of products spread everywhere, especially when you know you need to pack everything away quickly after the morning rush 😂

canvas bags and canvas box bags have honestly helped me so much with keeping everything organised while I work. I can see what I need, grab products quickly and keep my setup clean without unpacking my entire kit.

A smooth setup - a smoother morning for everyone ✨😮‍💨

Any other MUA’s super particular about how they set up their kit? Let me know 👇🏽

Not everything deserves a yes when you’re building as a makeup artist.

These are the things I had to learn the hard way 🙈 and if you’re at the beginning, this will save you time, energy and burnout.

Working for “exposure” sounds exciting, but exposure doesn’t build a sustainable business. If there’s no clear benefit, it’s a no.

Doing makeup that doesn’t suit your client just because it’s trending will never make you stand out. Your job is to see the individual, not copy and paste looks 👀

No contract, no system, no deposit! that’s where things start to fall apart. You need structure if you want to be taken seriously.

Undercharging to compete might get you bookings, but it also attracts the wrong clients and keeps you stuck.

Comparing your day one to someone else’s year ten will kill your confidence before you’ve even given yourself a chance.

And relying only on social media? That’s building your business on borrowed ground. You need more than just posts to grow.

This isn’t about being negative, it’s about building something solid.

Learn your skills. Set your boundaries. Think like a business owner, not just a makeup artist.

If you’re a beginner MUA, which one are you still struggling with? Be honest 🥰 I’ll help you 👇🏽

As a bridal hair and makeup artist, my job doesn’t
stop once the bride leaves the chair 🤩

I’m there in the background during photos, watching every angle, fixing flyaways, topping up lips, adjusting hair, making sure everything still looks just as perfect as it did that morning.
Because it’s not just about how it looks in person, it’s about how it photographs.

Lighting changes, movement, weather, emotions, it all plays a part, and I’m constantly checking those little details that make the biggest difference.

It might seem small, but these are the moments that end up in photos she’ll have forever ✨
Such a special part of the job being trusted with that.
If you’re a bride or a makeup artist, save this so you remember, the magic is in the details
