Moles…
When it comes to treating skin blemishes, moles are in a category of their own. Each mole undergoes a comprehensive assessment to determine its suitability for treatment. For a healthy protruding mole, it’s possible to visibly reduce the appearance of it, not the removal of the mole. Should any concerns flag up during the assessment in the consultation, it is necessary to offer a mole assessment with the dermatologist. Community Dermatology Ltd offers a prompt and professional service with a full written report identifying the blemish.

I’ve been in this industry for over 30 years and social media and obsessively asking for reviews is all part and parcel of attracting new clients. Well, I’ll admit it’s been an uphill challenge and I’m learning…. Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
I hear people saying, “You don’t have many followers”, “You don’t have many reviews”. This is because I don’t ask for them! But when a client takes the time to write a glowing review without any prompting, I’m very touched, and grateful as it really does help others find a practitioner that can be trusted. It means a lot to a small business.
So I’d like to say a huge thank you to those that have taken the time to leave a review. Thank you for choosing my services.

Talk on Skin Cancers at GYMOPHOBICS, BELPER
I delivered my presentation titled "SKIN: Lumps, Bumps, and Scary Bits….” to the lovely ladies at Gymophobics in Belper, Derbyshire. A subject that’s close to my heart. The aim is to share the knowledge I have acquired over years of educating nurses, doctors, aesthetic practitioners, and beauty therapists about skin health. My primary focus was to equip attendees with the skills to distinguish between normal, healthy blemishes and potentially harmful skin cancers, and to understand when it is advisable to seek medical attention.
The NHS message, ‘check your moles’, sadly is quite misleading. Skin cancers develop on any area of the skin, that’s why they’re called skin cancers, not mole cancers! I had a client visit me recently who said she’d had all her moles and tags checked by the GP. Just before she left, she asked me to look at her leg, which she hadn’t shown the GP because she didn’t see it as a ‘mole’, but that was the skin blemish that actually needed checking…
As a practitioner specialising in Skin Blemish Removal in Stamford and at UniSkin in Belper, one thing I hear quite often is, “I’ve been to see my Doctor, it’s nothing to worry about”. I’m hoping my talks are helping to raise awareness of skin cancers but also to reduce the risk of calling the GP with a simple milk spot. Another area of concern, are home remedies. How do you know the blemish you’re treating is safe to treat? It’s not the method of removal, as such, but identifying what it is that you’re trying to remove.
I shared the information at the talk not to alarm anyone or make people overly worried, but just to discuss and explain about the easy ABCDE guide for checking skin blemishes.
For more information on skin cancers and UV protection visit: www.skcin.org. SKCIN is a fantastic skin cancer charity with lots of information and resources about the effects of UV rays.
Stay safe in the sun. A hat alone, or staying in the shade is not enough protection from ultra violet rays.
I also offer a service for Mole Assessment. The mole is photographed through a dermatocscope and uploaded to the dermatologist along with a completed consultation form. You will receive a detailed report within 48 hours.
