❓ Ever rolled your ankle? ❓
Ever rolled your ankle and felt that sharp pain on the outside? You might’ve sprained your ATFL – the most commonly injured ligament in the ankle!
👉 The ATFL (anterior talofibular ligament) connects the fibula to the talus and helps stabilize your ankle, especially during inversion movements (when your foot rolls in). Injuries can be classified by different grades from partial to full thickness tear.
🌀 How it happens:
* Sudden twisting motions
* Sports with quick direction changes (like basketball, soccer, or trail running)
* Stepping off a curb wrong 😬
💡 Recovery Tips:
✅ Ice and elevate
✅ Early mobility (when safe!)
✅ Strengthening and balance exercises
❌ Don’t rush back too soon – it can lead to chronic instability and repetitive ankle sprains 🙁
🦶 Whether you’re a weekend warrior or elite athlete, take ankle injuries seriously. Rehab right to come back stronger! 💪

Knee Osteoarthritis: What You Need to Know
Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common condition where the cartilage in the knee joint wears down over time, causing pain, stiffness, and swelling. It’s more common as we age, but can also be influenced by factors like genetics, obesity, and previous injuries.
Key Symptoms of Knee OA:
* Pain, especially first thing on a morning, weight-bearing or after inactivity
* Stiffness and limited range of motion
* Swelling and knee instability
How Physiotherapy Can Help:
* Strengthening Exercises: Target muscles around the knee to reduce strain on the joint.
* Range of Motion Exercises: Improve flexibility and ease stiffness.
* Manual Therapy: Techniques to reduce pain and improve movement.
* Weight Management: Reduce stress on the knee joint.
* Pain Relief: Heat, cold, or corticosteroid injections may be suitable
🧠 Common Myths 🧠
* OA is not just ‘bone on bone’ it is part of the ageing process
* Most people will have OA as we get older, not everyone will get pain
* Guidelines show us you don’t need an X-Ray to diagnose OA, your physiotherapist can diagnose OA when examining you
