WHY ARE ‘PATIENTS’ DIFFERENT TO ‘CLIENTS’? 🤔

Although the two words probably don’t mean much to the average Joe, it’s our practitioner, Chans, massive bug bearer!! 🙈

“The term "patient" for me is something I’ve known my whole professional life.
Graduating with a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography and moving into the cardiovascular sector, all “persons” I’ve ever treated have been my patients.
For me a “patient” is someone who relies on my expertise, knowledge and professional qualification to treat them of which I have worked extremely hard for over the last 10 years.

On top of this I am currently undertaking a Masters university qualification of which, again, I am treating patients with the knowledge I am gaining every day undertaking this course.

The term “patient” implies a certain level of vulnerability and dependence on a medical professional, something a “client” would not require as they (for me) are someone who seeks advice or guidance from a service.
