Calling all Wi******er and Alresford history lovers, local businesses, and community champions.Did you know that in 1961, the public toilets on Station Road in New Alresford were at the exact center of a high-stakes Cold War espionage plot? The infamous Portland Spy Ring systematically used them as a secret "dead drop" to pass stolen British nuclear submarine blueprints to their Soviet handlers.The Watercress Line Heritage Railway Trust is working to bring this incredible, real-world piece of local Hampshire history to life with a brand-new initiative called "Spies on the Platform."Instead of static museum plaques, we are designing an interactive, living history experience right at the terminus, alongside curriculum-linked spycraft workshops for local secondary school students. Crucially, we are also building mobile, vintage-style "Spy Kit" trunks to take these multi-sensory history sessions directly into rural village halls to support isolated older people's groups across the district.We have a fixed project delivery budget of £5,000 to cover upcycled 1960s costumes, learning resource fabrication, and volunteer training. Please could someone recommend a man with a van who would be available tomorrow or Friday late afternoon/early eve or sometime on Saturday to collect a large piece of furniture - a large chest of drawers from SP2 (near Salisbury) and bring back to Wi******er SO23. We would like to speak to them about an incident at the Everyone Active sports and leisure centre on Bar End Road in Wi******er.

Damage was caused to multiple areas within the premises, including damage to the roof above the children’s soft play area and the slide, flooding to the staff canteen, food products from the café were strewn across the floor, and an emergency stair chair was removed from its bag and discarded down the staircase.

The costs for repair and cleaning are estimated to be in excess of £10,000.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday 19 September.
