STRESS is our body's response to pressure. Many different situations or life events can cause stress. It is often triggered when we experience something new or unexpected that threatens our sense of self or when we feel we have little control over a situation. We all deal with stress differently.

Did you know that stress has an impact on our bodies in many ways? When the body is under stress many bodily systems are affected:

❗️IMMUNE SYSTEM- the hormone cortisol rises suppressing the immune system, leading to susceptibility to bacterial & viral infections, cancers & auto immune diseases.
❗️ASTHMA- can be triggered resulting in lung issues.
❗️SLEEP- is disturbed leading to insomnia.
❗️DIABETES- Insulin is lost resulting in diabetes.
❗️APPETITE- Erratic behaviour is triggered, overeating or loss of appetite.
❗️HYPERTENSION- raised blood pressure leading to cardiovascular disease.

❗️ULCERS- are strongly linked to chronic stress.

As physical touch stimulates the parasympathetic nerves, your body will naturally slow its heart rate.
