Poor retention? Read this 👇

Most lash artists know the importance of temperature, humidity & good application 👌

But if that were enough, we wouldn’t have so many artists still struggling…

Retention issues show up as:
✔️ All clients having poor retention
✔️ 50% of lashes gone at 2-week fills
✔️ Some clients lasting well, others not
✔️ Inconsistent glue performance
✔️ Glue suddenly stops working or speeds up for no reason

Here’s the truth: Application & room conditions aren’t enough.

Humidity & temp only affect curing speed. But another factor is just as important (and most techs miss it):

❗️How well your glue bonds to the natural lash surface ❗️

That bond depends on the micro-environment of the natural lash — and here’s what influences it:

✅ Temp & humidity balance
✅ Prep & product pH
✅ Ingredients & % of alcohol in products
✅ Client’s lash pH & porosity
✅ Moisture levels on lashes
✅ Correct product choice
✅ Type of cyanoacrylate in glue (yes, there are 7 types!)
✅ Glue pickup & application
✅ Air circulation in your room

Every client has different lashes. Different pH, porosity, texture. That’s why prep and technique must be tailored for each client individually ☝️ And that’s the most common reason why some clients have great retention, but others don’t!

If one of these steps is off — you’ll get weak bonds. But if all are done right? That’s when you get 8+ weeks retention and 4-week fills with 70% lashes still there! Yes, even on those clients with poor aftercare 🤫

Who is the fox 🦊 effect for?

Many don’t realise it, but unfortunately, the popular foxy style does not suit many clients. This is because it can easily make the eyes appear heavy, droopy, and tired-looking (ESPECIALLY if done incorrectly).

It works best for:

✅ Normal or upturned eyes
✅ Almond eyes
✅ Close-set or normal-set eyes

It doesn’t work for:

❌ Round eyes (except if upturned)
❌ Narrow eyes
❌ Triangle eyes
❌ Downturned eyes
❌ Hooded eyes
❌ Wide-set eyes
❌ Deep-set eyes

When working with the fox eye effect, it’s recommended to use lengthening curls — B, C, or L curls — for the best effect and that eyeliner look! 💅

If you use a stronger curl though (e.g. D curl), the set will lose its sexy eyeliner effect and may also make the eyes look heavy.

Another big mistake I see is not reducing the lengths in the outer corners. This, yet again, makes the eyes appear veeeery heavy, sad, and downturned! Always go down by 2–3 lengths as shown in the post. Using the maximum length on the very outer corner is a very outdated technique 🙅‍♀️

NEW CHAPTER.

I have a lot of things going on in my life right now — not only sad ones but also really good ones. I’m starting a completely new chapter of my life from scratch, and I would love to share this journey with you here in my blog and in my Telegram Channel. ♥️

I’ve never usually shared much about my personal life, but now I feel that I want to. I want to share my happy and sad moments, wins and failures, the actual journey to my new life, and the story behind it all.

I don’t want to be just a lash trainer who only shares tips and tricks, wears a blazer, and puts on a fake smile no matter what. My goal is to become closer to you guys, as if we are good old friends who’ve known each other for years. 🫂

Of course, my page will still be lash-related, and I will keep posting tips and useful information. But now, I want to do it in a real, authentic way by also showing the story of my new life behind the scenes. I want to take off that blazer and be myself. I hope you guys will find it interesting, will stay with me, and that we’ll become closer to each other and build a real, strong community together! 🫶
