Lydias Face painting

Well this was a first…

I was booked to paint at a birthday party for a café! The Neighbour Fleet turned 1 this weekend and threw quite the bash to celebrate- Face Painting, Balloon Twisting 🎈 , a beautiful cake 🎂,DJs providing the tunes 🎧and of course some really yummy food and drinks 👨🏼‍🍳

For fun I added the options of the café specials to my own menu board. Whilst there were still a lot of unicorns🦄 , it was so much fun painting pineapple buns, cupcakes and iced matchas!

It was non stop painting so I didn’t get many photos. Would love to see some if anyone wants to share! 👀

Yesterday I attended the UK Face and Body Art Convention.

It was such an amazing day, attending classes, trying out new techniques and meeting some of the most amazing artists- I got a little bit star struck at points 🤦‍♀️🤭

I’ve come away bursting with inspiration and new ideas to try. 🎨 ✨

Something a little different from my usual face painting bookings…

This week I had the pleasure of teaching my first ever 1:1 face painting workshop!
My student was 9 and wanted to learn some of the basics of face painting. We spent a couple of hours together working on getting the right paint consistency, line work, stencils, flowers and at her request some one stroke flames 🔥
Mum was a great sport and even ended up painted as spiderman courtesy of her daughter.

I put together a little kit to play with on the day and goody bag for her to take home. I couldn't resist making her a certificate too 🏆

It was so lovely seeing her get more confident as the session went on — and I'm now wondering whether this might be something I explore a little more in the future…

I started face painting after taking a career break to be at home with my children. I still can’t quite believe this is my job now! 🥹

Before this, I was a Senior Merchandiser in retail — which means I run a mean spreadsheet, work well under pressure and massively overthink every business purchase I make. 😂

I’m fully insured and use professional, high-quality products and hygienic practices because safety seriously matters when you’re working with children.

But the best bit? The people. ❤️

I love the buzz of a busy event or party. Groups wanting to coordinate their glitter looks, children who want to BE a superhero, or quiet little ones who absolutely ROAR when they see they’ve become a tiger — it makes me smile every single time.

And I love the variety. Birthday parties, family days, care homes, charity fundraisers, weddings… even wakes. No two jobs are the same, and that’s what makes it so much fun.

🌈 I grew up in Hong Kong and have lived in 6 different countries
❄️ I worked a season in Lapland
🍎 I’m a food hoarder because I hate waste and genuinely believe you can freeze everything!
🎨 I only started painting after doing a one-off course… and it kind of escalated!
