Christmas holiday dates!

York peoples First are looking for wigs to use in their play. This company is putting on a performance to inform individuals on people with disabilities who lived in York union workhouses in the 1890s.
They are creating an art show that will tell this story of an incident that happened in 1899, where women with learning disabilities in the workhouse were forced to have their hair cut short. At this time the census says their were 44 women with learning disabilities in the workhouse. And part of this they want to display 44 wigs, to represent the 44 women with learning disabilities in the workhouse.

If anybody has any old wigs they no longer need please drop them into our shop (60 Clarence street, YO31 7EW) by the 8th July so we are able to send them to this company to help them with their production.

Our family residential weekend for children and young people with alopecia is back in 2024!

This event is a weekend jam-packed with fun, confidence-building activities and opportunities for developing new friendships 💙

The Red Cross are joining us to deliver an online workshop for young people with alopecia entitled ‘coping with challenges’.

This online workshop uses experiential learning to help young people learn resilience-building skills that help them cope better with the challenges they face.
