As we prepare to officially launch the Prampram Homowo Festival 2026, I invite all sons and daughters of Prampram, our friends, and all lovers of our rich cultural heritage to join us for this historic occasion.
This year’s launch holds special significance as we also commemorate 200 years since the historic Katamanso War (Battle of Dodowa).
The Katamanso War of 1826 remains one of the defining moments in the history of the Gold Coast. It was a battle that reshaped the political landscape of our nation and demonstrated the strength that comes from unity among allied states.
Prampram proudly played a critical role in this historic campaign. Our brave warriors stood alongside other allied forces, displaying courage, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to defending their people and preserving their freedom. Their sacrifice forms an important chapter of our history, one that deserves to be remembered and passed on to future generations.
As Paramount Chief of the Prampram Traditional Area, I believe it is our collective responsibility not only to celebrate our festivals but also to preserve and honour the history that has shaped our identity as a people.
I therefore warmly invite everyone to join us as we officially launch Prampram Homowo Festival 2026 and commemorate the bicentenary of the Katamanso War.
