Infectious Diseases Institute - Makerere University Africa CDC

Infectious Diseases Institute - Makerere University and met in Harare last week to officially launch the PROVE program--a multicenter implementation science research initiative to evaluate COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness in Africa under the Saving Lives & Livelihoods Programme.

The IDI team also met with the University of Zimbabwe research support centre and the National Institute of Health Research under the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) to discuss an in-country collaboration for the implementation of the PROVE program in Zimbabwe.

Health Professions Education (HPE) Research is gaining momentum in Africa with many collaborative research initiatives in HPE taking root resulting into publications in local and international journals. Despite the increase in HPE research however, more effort is needed to conduct research that addresses Africa`s contextual
problems in health professions education while at the same contributing to the wider global HPE literature. Training needs to be informed by local research relevant to the African context. This webinar will generate discourse around these issues.
