GACE ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB.
First official meeting for the club.
Skipping other session of the meetings, Mr Chalisung Bernard Isung the patron of the environmental club gave an opening speech by expressing his gratitude for the club formation. He stated clearly that development was mainly economic before 1990s. In the early 1990s, there was a global meeting about development. The heads of state of the UN to pursue agenda 21 thus environmental. The focused on the environmental aspect. He further exposed to the August house some of the environmental institutions who supports environmental clubs to promote in solving environmental issues. Environmental is a global club. He clearly stated it to the club that the College Principal an all the other authorities are very pleased with the formation of the club. His main words were based and emphasized on unity being our main priority and also working as co-equals so that we can achieve our goals.
INTRODUCTION OF THE CLUB
This part of introduction was presented by one of the fountain members of the club by name Mohammed Ahmed Ridwan, a student from the the social science department. He outlined certain environmental issues that harms life such as air, water, erosion, global warming and others, more especially in the Northern part of Ghana. Bush burning, excessive heat, is very rampant. He pointed out that sanitation is the greatest challenge on campus and Gambaga township as a whole.
Another member by name Kanbonaab Gifty educated the members of the club on the purpose and some of these are listed below;
1. To protect, preserve, conserve and restore the environment
2. Planting of trees
3. Promoting sanitation working and outside the school
4. Establishing a school garden
She outlined that the sanity of the environment will help promote a good healthy living on campus which will go at length to promote sound studies in school.
Another important session was handled by Mohammed Fessel, a fountain member as well. He point out benefits the club will lead each member to, if they go by their seriousness and willingness to work. Some of these benefits are listed below;
1. Environmental club help us connect classroom activity to practical activities which will help broaden our knowledge.
2. It help us become environmental sensitive
3. Opportunities to engage politicians, leaders and peer.
4. He later on elaborated on global warming and its related issues
