"Before the clock strikes twelve, I have something I need to say to the woman in the mirror and to all of you."

I was sitting in my studio this evening, looking at my appointment book from January 1st until today, and I almost felt like crying. I remembered the faces of every woman who walked through my doors this year. I remembered the ones who came in feeling "down" because of a bad breakout, the ones who were hiding their thinning edges under heavy wigs, and the ones who just needed an hour of peace away from the stress of work and family.

To see those same women walk out with their heads held high, smiling at their reflection and feeling like the queens they truly are, that is the greatest "New Year's Gift" I could ever ask for. This business is about more than just cream, lace glue, or hair dye. It is about the sisterhood we’ve built in this chair. You’ve shared your wins, your heartbreaks, and your dreams with me while I worked on your skin and hair. I don't just see a client; I see a sister who is working hard to be her best self.

As we enter 2026, I want you to carry one thing with you: Your beauty is an asset, but your confidence is your power. My professional mission for the New Year isn't just to sell you more products; it’s to continue teaching you how to love and care for the body you are in.

Investment: In 2026, stop apologizing for spending time or money on your self-care. When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you perform better in every area of your life.

Consistency: We are leaving "quick fixes" in 2025. We are entering the New Year with the discipline to stay consistent with our routines, our water intake, and our silk bonnets!

Gratitude: Thank you for choosing me. In a city full of stylists and estheticians, the fact that you trust my hands and my advice means everything to me. My gratitude comes with a promise for 2026. Because you have been so loyal to me, I am dedicated to becoming even better for you.

Growth: I’ve spent this year learning new techniques and studying the best products specifically for our African skin and hair, all because I want you to have the world-class service you deserve right here at home.

Community: This page isn't just about business; it’s a family. Thank you for making this a safe space where we can talk about our "edges," our "glow," and our confidence without shame.

The Blessing: My prayer for you as you enter the New Year is that your beauty will shine from the inside out. May your 2026 be as smooth as your skin after a deep exfoliation and as bright as a fresh highlight.
Thank you for being the best part of our 2025. We are so ready to serve you even better in the coming year. Please stay safe tonight, cherish your family, and we will see you on the other side of the clock! Happy New Year to our amazing community.

Tonight, as you head to church or to a party, look in the mirror and say, "Thank you" to God, to your skin and your body for carrying you through this year. I’ll see you in 2026 for an even bigger glow-up. Happy New Year, family!

"This is my last message of 2025: Your skin is a permanent outfit. Treat it with respect."

As we stand on the edge of a New Year, everyone is making resolutions about money, marriage, and career. But I want to ask you: What is your resolution for the person in the mirror? I spent years of my life trying to "buy" beauty from a makeup bottle, only to realize that the most beautiful thing you can wear is a healthy, glowing complexion. I’ve seen women transform their confidence just by fixing their moisture barrier or finally stopping the use of harsh chemicals. When your skin is healthy, you don't "need" makeup; you only use it because you want to.

Let’s set your 2026 Beauty Standards tonight:

Consistency over Intensity: You don't need 20 products; you need 3 that you use every single day (Cleanse, Moisturize, Sunscreen).

Patience: Stop looking for "7-day miracles." Give your skin 3 months to show you what it can really do.

Water: Make a vow to drink 2-3 liters of water every day. It’s the cheapest facial you will ever get. Thank you for being part of my community this year. I can't wait to see your "New Year Glow" tomorrow! Happy New Year!

"The air is damp tonight. Is your hair ready for the humidity?"

I’ve seen so many ladies enter the New Year looking "scattered" because their hair couldn't handle the night air. Whether it’s the humidity in Tarkwa or a sudden drizzle in Accra, your hair is like a sponge it wants to suck up that moisture and "p**f" out. I had a client spend hours flat-ironing her hair, only for it to turn into a "bush" ten minutes after she stepped out of her car. She was so frustrated she didn't want to take any photos.

You need to "Waterproof" your style tonight.
Use a silicone-based hair serum (like Biosilk or Olive Oil Glosser) while the hair is still warm from the straightener. This "seals" the cuticle so moisture can't get in.
Don't spray directly on your head; spray the hairspray on your comb and then run it through your hair. This gives an even hold without making the hair look "crunchy."
Keep a small silk scrunchie in your bag. If the humidity wins, a "Sleek Low Bun" is always classier than "Frizzy Hair." Enter 2026 looking like the boss you are!

"It's the last day of 2025! Here is how to make sure your makeup is still standing when the clock hits 12."

Tonight is the biggest night of the year. Whether you are going to a 5-hour church service or a club, you are going to sweat. I remember one year I went to a "Crossover" and by the time we were saying "Happy New Year," my eyebrows had literally "travelled" down my face because of the humidity. I looked like a melting candle in all the family photos! I vowed never again. Today, I’m sharing the "Pro-Level" secret for makeup that does not move, no matter how much you "praise" or "dance."

The "No-Oil" Base: Today, skip the heavy oils. Use a water-based primer or even just a mattifying gel.
The Setting Spray Layering: Spray your face after your primer, after your foundation, and after your powder. This creates layers of "glue" that hold the pigment to your skin. The Blotting Secret: Don't carry a powder compact in your bag—it will just get "cakey." Carry "Blotting Papers" or even just a clean tissue. If you get oily, press the tissue onto your face; don't wipe. Wiping moves the makeup; pressing only takes the oil. Stay beautiful until 2026!

"Three days of partying is showing under your eyes. Let's fix it before the crossover service."

I’ve been doing "Crossover Service" makeup for years, and the biggest complaint I get on the 31st is, "Please hide my eye bags!" Between the late-night movie marathons, the family gatherings, and the salt in all that party food, the skin under our eyes (which is the thinnest skin on your body) is struggling. It gets dark because the blood vessels are dilated from lack of sleep, and it gets puffy because of fluid retention. You can't just "powder" it away; if you do, it will just look like "ashy bags."

You need to treat the area before you paint it. Take two used tea bags (Green tea is best because of the caffeine) and put them in the fridge for 10 minutes. Lay them over your eyes. The caffeine shrinks the blood vessels and the "tannins" in the tea pull out the puffiness. Use a dedicated eye cream or just a tiny drop of Glycerin mixed with water. For our skin tones, a yellow or peach-toned concealer works better than a white one. It "cancels" the purple/dark tones instead of just trying to cover them. Apply it in a "V" shape, not just a circle, to lift the whole face.

"If you’re starting a new skincare routine for 2026, don't make this 10,000 GHS mistake."

A client came to me last January with dark patches on her cheeks that weren't there in December. She said, "But I started using that expensive Retinol everyone on TikTok is talking about!" I had to explain to her that Retinol is a "night-only" miracle. Because it speeds up cell turnover, it brings "baby skin" to the surface. That baby skin is extremely sensitive to our African sun. If you apply it in the morning, or if you apply it at night but forget your sunscreen the next day, the sun will "fry" that new skin, leaving you with worse hyperpigmentation than you started with.

If "Better Skin" is your 2026 goal, you must respect the Active Ingredient Rules.

The Night Shift: Retinol, Glycolic Acid, and Lactic Acid are for nighttime only, again you cannot use "treatment" products if you are not ready to wear sunscreen (SPF 30 or 50) every single day even if it's cloudy, even if you are staying inside. The UV rays in West Africa don't play.

Start Slow: Don't start a high-strength acid tomorrow night just because you want to "look new" for the 1st. You will just end up with a chemical burn. Start with twice a week and let your skin get used to the "vibe" of the product.

"You want your skin to shine like a mirror in your NYE photos? Do this 24 hours before."

I remember my first big New Year's Eve party in Accra. I had this beautiful sleeveless dress, but when I put it on, my shoulders and back looked "dull" and "ashy" because of the Harmattan. I tried to put on body oil, but it just sat on top of the dead skin and looked greasy, not "glowy." I learned the hard way that you cannot shine if you are covered in "dead" cells. Your skin renews itself every 28 days, but in this dry weather, those dead cells don't fall off, they stick to you like dust.
Tonight is the night for the Ultimate Body Polish.
Use a physical scrub (sugar or salt) or an exfoliating glove. Focus on your knees, elbows, and back. This "levels" the surface of your skin so it can reflect light.
While you are still in the shower, apply a "rinse-off" body conditioner or just a light layer of baby oil.
Tomorrow, before you put on your dress, mix a little bit of your liquid gold highlighter into your body lotion (like Jergen’s Shea Butter). Apply it specifically to your collarbones and the front of your shins. You will look like a literal trophy in every photo, no filter needed.
You are welcome!

"Beauty doesn't have to hurt. If it hurts, you're losing your hair."

I heard a stylist tell a young girl yesterday, "If it doesn't pull, it won't last." That is the biggest lie in the African hair industry! I’ve spent years in this business, and I can tell you that "tightness" does not equal "neatness." When your stylist pulls those tiny hairs at your nape and your temples too tight, she is causing "micro-tears" in your scalp. You might think it’s just a "small headache" that will go away after two days of taking Panadol, but what is actually happening is that you are killing the blood supply to your hair follicles. Once those follicles are scarred, the hair will never grow back.

Speak Up: If you are in the chair and it hurts, tell the stylist to loosen it immediately. Don't be shy; it's your head but If you already have tight braids, take a towel soaked in very warm water and press it against the tightest areas. This helps the synthetic fiber of the braids "relax" and stretch slightly, giving your scalp some room to breathe. Use a peppermint-based scalp oil to soothe the inflammation. Peppermint is a natural "vasodilator," meaning it opens up the blood vessels so your hair stays healthy even under the tension. Let’s enter the New Year with a full hairline, not a "lifted" one!
You are welcome!

"Stop ignoring your hands! They are the first place people look after your face."

I met with my long time friend at a restaurant in Accra. Her makeup was 10/10, her hair was "slaying," but when she reached for her glass, her knuckles were dark, cracked, and looked "burned." She told me she uses a "Brightening Serum" on her face but forgets her hands. The problem is, our hands are always exposed to the sun and the dry wind, and we wash them ten times a day, stripping all the natural oils. If you are using any "active" ingredients like Retinol or Vitamin C on your face and then touching your hands, you are making the skin on your fingers even more sensitive to the sun.
Try these;
The Protection: Every time you finish your skincare routine, rub the "leftovers" on the back of your hands.
The Sunscreen Rule: If you are driving or sitting near a window, your hands are getting "cooked" by the sun. You must apply sunscreen to your hands too.
The Night Rescue: Tonight, apply a thick layer of Lanolin or Vaseline on your hands and wear cotton gloves (or even clean socks) to sleep. This "forces" the moisture back into the skin. By the time you wake up, your knuckles will look five years younger. Don't let your hands give away your "old" secrets in 2026!
You are welcome!

"If you’ve been wearing makeup every day since the 20th, your pores are screaming. Let's do a deep eviction tonight."

I was talking to a lady that attended a wedding yesterday, and she was complaining that her skin feels "heavy" and "rough" like sandpaper. She told me, "But I wash my face every night with soap!" I asked her to take a cotton pad with some micellar water and wipe her jawline right there. When she saw the brown dirt and leftover foundation on that pad, she almost screamed. You see, during this festive season, we are layering heavy foundation, setting sprays, and then the Harmattan dust is blowing on top of it all. Your regular "bath soap" or a quick 10-second wash cannot move that level of grime. You are basically sleeping with a mask of dirt every night, and that is why those tiny "heat rashes" or bumps are starting to appear on your forehead.

To enter 2026 with clear skin, you need to master the Double Cleanse. This isn't for fancy people; it's for anyone who wants to avoid a breakout on New Year's Day.

Phase One: Use an oil-based cleanser or even plain Grapeseed Oil or Simple Hydrating Oil. Massage it into your dry face for 60 seconds. This melts the waterproof makeup and the "glue" from your setting spray.

Phase Two: Wash with your actual foaming cleanser (like Cerave Foaming or ZapZyt) to wash away the oil and the dirt it gathered.

The Steam: After washing, soak a small towel in warm water and lay it over your face for 2 minutes. This opens the pores so they can finally breathe. Do this tonight, and you’ll see your "glow" come back by morning.
Meanwhile, you are welcome.

"The secret to long-wear makeup in Africa isn't more powder; it's the 'Sandwich' method."

I remember doing makeup for a bride's sister last December. She was so worried because she has very oily skin, and she knew she would be dancing and sweating all day. She kept asking me to "bake" her face with more and more powder. I told her, "If I put too much powder, you will look like a ghost in the photos, and the makeup will eventually crack like a dry desert." Instead, I used a technique I call the Setting Spray Sandwich. By the end of the night after all the dancing and the heat her makeup was still "Final." She didn't even need to touch up her nose.

If you want your New Year's makeup to last through the heat, stop relying on just powder. Use an oil-free moisturizer. If your skin is already oily, adding an oil-based primer is like putting grease on a slide. Spray your face with a strong setting spray (like Skindinavia or Sasha) before you put on your foundation. Let it dry until it's tacky. Then apply your foundation. Spray again after your powder. This "sandwiches" the makeup between two layers of waterproof film. Also, use a "Damp" beauty blender to press your powder into the skin instead of just swiping it. This "bonds" the product to your face so it can't move, even when you sweat.
You are welcome.

"Stop pulling your hair so tight! Your edges are crying for help."

My best friend loves her "sleek ponytail." She uses edge control every single morning and pulls it so tight that her eyes look tilted. Last month, she looked in the mirror and realized her forehead was getting "longer." Her edges were disappearing. She was convinced it was "village people" or her "wicked" mother-in-law, but I had to tell her the truth: "Sister, it’s not the village people; it’s the Traction Alopecia and that glue you call edge control." When you apply heavy wax every day and never wash it off, you are literally suffocating the tiny hair follicles until they die and stop growing.
Edge control is basically a soft glue. If you don't remove it at night, it clogs the pores around your hairline. Take a warm, wet face towel and gently wipe off the edge control before you sleep. Do not leave it to harden overnight.

Use Black Castor Oil to massage your edges for 2 minutes every night. This increases blood flow to the area, which brings nutrients to the "sleeping" follicles. Go at least two days a week without "laying" your edges. Let them be "ruffled" and natural. Giving your hairline a break for 48 hours can be the difference between having hair at 40 and wearing a wig forever.
