Old Stone Church - with the wreath up and snow in the forecast, there is no better holiday scene. Here is a collection over the years I lived in Central Mass.

Five years ago this week, the Covid pandemic officially began. Over the next few weeks and months, this partially how Boston felt and looked. Living in town let me get out almost every day to photograph and document what I saw and experienced. I have a lot of photos from that time but other than a small batch, I’ve never revisited that time and my catalogue of images. The impacts continue to be felt and likely have forever changed us and our society. The cover photo is one that always brings me back to that time. I took it a week into the pandemic on a Sunday afternoon. Normally a Sunday afternoon in mid March in Quincy Market would be packed….

I’m disabling comments in advance because it’s all exhausting. My reel about Interbational Women’s Day was filled with filled with tons of pretty terrible comments and I don’t have the strength to delete the ones that will surely appear on this post. what was Boston like during Covid, Boston during the pandemic

Head of the Charles. This weekend is the annual rowing regatta on the Charles River. More than 11,000 rowers from all over the world complete in one of the biggest regattas of its kind. You can view it from the Boston or Cambridge side of the river with the best views near the Harvard and BU campuses along the water and over the bridges. It runs from Friday to Sunday and is a great Boston area tradition. Here’s a few rowing photos. I took the first around sunrise near Harvard in late October 2022 and is one of my favorite fall photos. Just screams New England fall to me! The second was taken in 2020 when there was no formal regatta but rowers still made one happen! The last one is from last fall with a fire sunrise and towers in costume for Halloween. And included a clip of two towers. 🍁🍁🍁 things to do in fall, fall in New England, fall in Boston, what is fall like in Boston

First Harbor Company - finally made it out to firstharborcompany for my annual visit and the dory was being pulled to shore. I thought it was coming out for the season, but apparently some lines were crossed and there was water to be pumped out. After a little maintenance, it was launched into the last colors of a reflected sunset. Thanks to the owner for this annual tradition. He said the boat will be out through the end of the month.

Fruity Pebbles or Hydrangea Mania in Boston. An unbelievable start to hydrangea season in New England with the most vibrant colors I’ve seen. The blues, pinks and purples look like a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. A collection of photos from Back Bay, the South End, Public Garden and Bay Village. 💙💜❤️🤍💖

Charles Street at Christmastime. Boston may be a city but many neighborhoods can also feel like a small town. And during the holidays Charles Street on Beacon Hill resembles a Rockwell painting. As we enter the gift giving season and Black Friday, shop at our local businesses. Boycott the big box stores. Boycott large retailers that treat their employees poorly. Boycott public companies that make billions and pay their CEOs millions while enployees struggle to get by. Boycott Amazon. Spend your money on local and small businesses. Here’s a selection of some old and new photos from Charles Street of some of my favorites. If you have or know a local business in the Boston area that does great holiday let’s, let me know in the comments. I’m looking to highlight local businesses through my photos this December!

Couldn’t resist capturing the magical Japanese Threadleaf that everyone loves. This tree has been seen by countless cameras, filtered in every way, and it still feels fresh - true beauty doesn’t need a first claim 🍂

Tis The Season - a favorite season to both shoot and enjoy. Headed to Maine on Thursday and possible snow in the forecast. I thought I would share some of my favorite locations while I try to acquire some new ones. Here is the First Harbor dory coming and going. According to the official photographer markkatzphotos it went into the water over the weekend. Check Mark’s feed out as he does excellent work and has a beautiful calendar that you can always use somewhere in your life.

My Favorite View. The view of the Arlington Street entrance to the Public Garden from the Comm Ave Mall has long been my favorite in Boston. If I ever made a coffee table book, there is no doubt this scene would be on the cover.

The entrance has been closed for about a year for a large restoration project. The primary purpose of the restoration was to address the two child fountains flanking George, “Boy and Bird” and “Small Child.” These statutes frequently were not working and were long in need of significant repair. The restoration also included new landscaping and updated pathways around the statue. The entrance is set to reopen on this Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30. The new entrance and the fountains look great and I’m looking forward to having my favorite view back in time for fall! Here’s a selection of photos from different seasons. Thanks to the friendsofthepublicgarden and the bostonparksdept I will miss the two weeping cherry trees at the entrance but it looks like new cherry blossoms were planted!

Welcome to 2025 Boston! I hope everyone had a nice NYE either out or at home. While I mostly was shooting video last night during firstnightboston, I did take a few photos of the pruboston lit for 2025 from the Public Garden. For some reason, the Pru skipped lighting for 2024 but glad they brought back this great New Years Eve tradition. But seriously, how it 2025??? 🎊🎊🎊🍾🍾🍾
