Did sets of 5 with 485 today which is 75% 1RM last set I did 500 and let crazy come out to play hahaha I have some issues

I just want to remind people that we all will face struggles on our journey. In July I had a meet that didn't as planned at all and I faced a lot of injuries in 2016. Early December I threw my back out and I wasn't sure if I would be able to compete in the Strong Like Bull meet. But I have grown up a lot and I was smart and took some time off to let myself heal. I came back strong and hit new PRs I hit 644 squat, 501 bench, and 755 deadlift for a 1900 total. Be smart with training and listen to your body

I was finally able to pause bench 515, I have done this weight before but it was touch and go. This also moved pretty well

I don't like my squats they are my worst lift I have been fighting like crazy to break 700. Today I hit 585x2, 605x2, 615x2, 625x2, 635x2 (video)

My buddy showing another way of working on bench. Floor presses are awesome because it takes all of your leg drive out of the equation I find they help build control which helps me on my bench

If you are having trouble building a stronger bench try some dead presses. On a normal bench press you unrack the weight and your chest, arms, back, and legs tighten to support the weight, then you lower the weight in a controlled manner and when you press back up you are already tight so it seems easier. But from a dead press off of your chest you aren't tight at all so you have to press hard into the bar and it feels like it takes forever to move. I was trying to find a way to explain it today and I finally said think of bench press as a car doing 60mph it takes less time and less gas to get to 100. But a dead press is like trying to do 0-100

Hit 165lbs this weekend but failed an attempt at 175lbs. Slowly but surly one of my weakest areas is getting stronger! Thanks Nate for the help and spot! 😁
