After 5+ years in business, The Baba’s Barbershop will close its doors this evening.

We have been privileged with the people who have been around this business, as clients, employees, and even as friends. The consistency and loyalty we have been given over the years was the pillars to the shop.

As time has moved, so has our direction. From a business point of view, in the early days it was about building a brand, and a space that wasn’t like others in our town. There was a drive to make the shop, something more than a barbershop. But ultimately in those days, it was about survival.

Not long after we celebrated our 1st year being opened, the global pandemic landed on our doorsteps. Like many businesses, and people in general, we had to shift how we approached almost everything. We came out of the pandemic with a new online version of ourselves. We managed to push past one of the most challenging times for businesses in recent years. Coming out the other side being noticed, and used for a national campaign in promoting businesses to go online.

We remained operational and professional, whilst trying to promote for men’s mental health. We teamed up with other groups around the town to promote our ‘We Should Talk’ campaign.

The reasons why I say some of these things now is to share some of the good that has happened, as closing our doors isn’t something bad. With plenty of memories, and an abundance of experience, I am actually delighted to be at the end of a thrilling experience. Something that even overwhelmed for a period. Regardless to that, an experience that has changed my life.

Darragh is a quality barber, with 2 years experience. He has recently completed a City and Guilds barbering course and we are very happy to have him on board!

He is available for walk ins Tuesday - Saturday, and will be on the booking system soon.
