Did you know that recovery from liposuction doesn’t end in the operating room? 🏥✨

After surgery, the body naturally responds with swelling, fluid retention and inflammation. This is where the lymphatic system plays an important role, helping the body remove excess fluid and support the healing process. 💧

When recommended and approved by your surgeon, post-operative lymphatic drainage may help:

✨ Reduce swelling and fluid retention
✨ Support healthy lymphatic circulation
✨ Ease feelings of heaviness and discomfort
✨ Encourage a smoother and more comfortable recovery
✨ Support the body throughout the healing process

Every recovery is different. The timing and number of sessions must always be guided by your surgeon, and treatment should only begin once you have received medical clearance.

At Edilma Therapy, your safety comes first. We assess each client carefully and adapt every session to their individual needs. 💜

THE EFFECTS OF SITTING FOR TOO LONG 💻🪑

If you spend most of your working day sitting, your body may eventually begin to feel the effects:

1️⃣ Restricted breathing
A rounded, slouched position can limit the movement of the rib cage and make comfortable, deep breathing more difficult. Excessive sedentary time is also associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.

2️⃣ Tight hip flexors and reduced core activation
Keeping the hips bent for several hours can contribute to tightness at the front of the hips. At the same time, the abdominal muscles remain less active while the chair supports the body.

3️⃣ Reduced circulation and muscle activity
When the legs remain still, the muscles do not help circulation as effectively. This may contribute to stiffness, heaviness or mild swelling in the legs and feet.

4️⃣ Reduced energy and concentration
Sitting without movement breaks may leave you feeling tired, sluggish and less focused. However, it does not literally mean that your brain is being deprived of oxygen.

5️⃣ Neck and shoulder strain
Leaning towards a computer or looking down at a screen can increase the workload on the neck, shoulders and upper-back muscles.

6️⃣ Back stiffness and reduced mobility
Remaining in one position for too long may contribute to muscular tension, back discomfort and a temporary reduction in spinal mobility.

7️⃣ Reduced glute activation
The glutes remain relatively inactive while sitting. Without sufficient movement or strengthening exercises, they may become less effective at supporting the hips and lower back.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
✔️ Stand up and change position regularly.
✔️ Take a short 2–5 minute movement break every 30–60 minutes when possible.
✔️ Walk during phone calls or on your lunch break.
✔️ Stretch your chest, shoulders, hips and legs.
✔️ Stay active through walking, gym training or another activity you enjoy.
✔️ Strengthen your back, core, hips and glutes.
✔️ Adjust your chair, desk and screen to create a more comfortable workstation.
✔️Book a regular massage 💆🏼‍♀️✨ (no only on holidays)

Sometimes we look at where someone is today and forget the years behind it.

The homesickness.
The doubts.
The small beginnings.
The long days.
The lessons.
The people who helped along the way.

Every version of me built this. 💜

From a dream to 8 years of Edilma Therapy.

Thank you for being part of this journey 💖
