It’s hard to admit, but I think almost every nail technician has drilled a hole into her own nail while learning to use an e-file. 😢

When I bought my first e-file six years ago, I practised directly on my nails and almost drilled straight through my nail plate.

Nobody told me that before touching a natural nail, I needed to train the movement in my hand first: how to hold the e-file, control the pressure and move it smoothly.

And girl, you can practise all of that on so many other things.

My suggestion? Use an eggshell. 🥚

It’s thin and delicate, so it helps you develop a lighter, steadier hand without sacrificing your own nails.

Learn the movement first. Practise on nails later.

On Sunday, I met an old friend I hadn’t seen in almost three years.

She’s where I want to be in a few years: multiple businesses, salons, bigger projects.

But during our meal, she couldn’t put her phone down.

Her business constantly needed her.

She told me how badly burnout had affected her health.

And I thought:

I want what she built.
But I don’t want to build it that way, I want to enjoy the process

That conversation showed me something I needed to see.

I want growth. I want big businesses. I’m ambitious.

But I also want to sit at a table, put my phone down, and actually be there, because I feel like to enjoy the movie you must live the details on it

When she asked me how I managed to do it all I just said
"I put systems into place so everything earns its place in my daily life, because that's what I'm good at seeing problems and find solutions for🤍
