When did our bathroom become a treatment room?

Skincare is becoming increasingly sophisticated, borrowing the language, technology and experience of professional treatments. And while that's exciting, it also raises an interesting question:

Are we making skincare more effective – or simply making it more complicated?

From multi-step routines and advanced actives to treatment-inspired products and at-home devices, it can sometimes feel as though our bathroom has become our own personal treatment room.

But perhaps skincare doesn't need more steps. Perhaps it needs more purpose.
