ADDC Bandipora Inspects Ongoing I&FC Works at Sumbal Sub Division*

Bandipora, September 30: Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Nazir Ahmad Mir, today conducted an extensive inspection of various ongoing works being executed by the Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) Department, Sumbal at different locations across the district.

During the inspection, the ADDC visited Hajin, Check Chadergeer and Bakshi Bal to take first-hand stock of the progress of the works and assess the pace and quality of ex*****on at the work sites.

The ADDC was accompanied by the Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer, and other officials of the I&FC department, Sumbal. The contractors executing the works were also present at the respective sites.

During the inspection, the ADDC stressed upon the concerned officers and executing agencies to ensure quality ex*****on, adherence to approved specifications and timely completion of the works. He also reviewed the progress made so far and took feedback regarding the requirements and challenges being faced at the sites.

The concerned officers and contractors informed that the works are expected to be completed within a period of three months.

The ADDC directed the concerned authorities to maintain close monitoring of the works and ensure that the projects are completed within the stipulated timeline while maintaining the prescribed quality standards.

Ajas Police Intensify Crackdown on Drugs, Register Two NDPS Cases.

Bandipora, Sept 30: In a significant enforcement action against drug-related activities, Police Post Ajas registered two separate NDPS cases during naka checking at Zadoo, Ajas, after allegedly recovering narcotic substances from two persons in consecutive incidents.

In the first case, police intercepted a person travelling from Ganderbal towards Bandipora for checking. During the search of his motorcycle bearing registration number JK01AF-9058, police allegedly recovered a solid, charas-like substance along with psychotropic tablets.

The accused was identified as Mohd Asrar Tantray, son of Mohd Maqbool Tantray, resident of Patipora, Saloora, Ganderbal. Following the recovery, FIR No. 219/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Sumbal, and investigation has been initiated.

In a second incident at the same naka, police intercepted another person travelling from Ajas towards SK Payeen. During his search, a solid, charas-like substance was allegedly recovered from his possession.

The person was identified as Javaid Ahmad Rather, son of Ghulam Nabi Rather, resident of New Colony, Ajas. Police subsequently registered FIR No. 221/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sumbal, and further investigation is underway.

The back-to-back recoveries highlight the continued enforcement efforts of Police Bandipora to curb the transportation, possession and use of narcotic substances and to strengthen action against the drug menace in the district.

Local residents have appreciated the prompt action taken by the police and expressed support for continued efforts to combat drug-related activities in the area.
