ଆମ ଓଡ଼ିଆମାନଙ୍କର ସକାଳ ଜଳଖିଆରେ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ମିଳିଥାଏ ଏକ ନିଆରାପଣ। ଏଠାରେ ଅନେକଗୁଡ଼ିଏ ସ୍ୱାଦିଷ୍ଟ ଜଳଖିଆ ରହିଛି, ତାହା ସହିତ ଚୁଡା ଚକଟା ଏବଂ ଛତୁଆ ପରି ଖାଦ୍ୟର ମଧ୍ୟ ବେଶ୍ ଆଦର।

ସକାଳର ସ୍ୱାଦିଷ୍ଟ ଏବଂ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟକର ଜଳଖିଆ ହେଉଛି ଚୁଡା ଚକଟା। ଏହାକୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରିବା ମଧ୍ୟ ବହୁତ ସହଜ । ଏହି ଚୁଡା ଚକଟାକୁ ଆହୁରି ସ୍ୱାଦଯୁକ୍ତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଏଥିରେ ନଡ଼ିଆ କୋରା, ଗୁଡ଼ ଏବଂ ଦହି ଭଳି ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ଉପାଦାନକୁ ମିଶାଇ ଚକଟା ଯାଏ, ଯାହା ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ପକ୍ଷେ ହିତକର ହୋଇଥାଏ।

ଏଠି ଧନୀ ଗରିବ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ଘରେ ଚୁଡା କଦଳୀର ଢେର ଆଦର। ଏପରିକି ଆମ ଠାକୁରଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଚୁଡା କଦଳୀକୁ ନୈବେଦ୍ୟ ରୂପେ ଅର୍ପଣ କରାଯାଏ। ଖାଲି ସେତିକି ନୁହେଁ ପେଟ ଗରମ କିମ୍ବା ଖରାପ ହେଲେ ତଥା ଆମ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ପରମ୍ପରା ଅନୁସାରେ ଶବ ସଂସ୍କାର ବିଧି ପରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଚୁଡା କଦଳୀ ଖାଇବାକୁ ଦିଆଯାଏ। ତେଣୁ ଆମ ପାଇଁ ଏହା କେବଳ ଏକ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ, ଏହା ଆମର ବିଚାରଧାରା ଏବଂ ପରମ୍ପରା ସହିତ ମଧ୍ୟ ଜଡ଼ିତ।

'Chuda' means flattened rice or poha and 'kadali' means banana and 'Chuda Kadali/Chakata' which is mashing of poha and bananas mixed with yoghurt, jaggery, grated coconut etc.Poha is a rich source of antioxidants and essential vitamins and its gluten free. Addition of yoghurt and other fruits makes it more healthy and delicious. It is prepared within a minute when you have all the ingredients handy and this is a very filling and healthy breakfast.

Summer in the 90s was incomplete if you don't buy this ice treats from a man standing just outside of our school/home selling them out of a little freezer he carried on his cycle. Sold for a few rupees. They have many flavours but the most popular one was Coconut flavoured ice cream, known to everyone as 'Nadia ice cream'(Coconut icecream). It is the most popular ice cream in Odisha And this icecream made our summers more fun.
