ISO E SUPER is an incredibly popular synthetic aroma chemical created by International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) in 1973 that revolutionized modern perfumery with its smooth, woody, amber, and velvet-like scent profile. Rather than smelling like a distinct, heavy perfume, it functions almost like an olfactive effects molecule; it is remarkably transparent, mimicking a cozy, warm skin-scent that tends to vanish and reappear to the wearer throughout the day due to its high molecular weight. In the fragrance industry, it is prized as a powerful blender and fixative because it rounds out harsh edges, adds a velvety texture, and dramatically boosts the projection (sillage) and longevity of other ingredients.
