Think drinking more water is the easiest way to keep kidney stones away? There’s more to it.
Staying well hydrated is an important part of kidney stone prevention. For healthy individuals, aiming for around 3 litres of fluid a day can help maintain adequate urine output, with pale yellow or clear urine generally indicating good hydration.
But how much water do you really need to prevent kidney stones? Dr. Jaish George, Nephrologist and Transplant Physician, explains why hydration matters and why the advice can be different for people with heart disease or chronic kidney disease.
If you are looking for a Nephrologist in Chennai for kidney stone prevention and kidney care, Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals offers comprehensive care. As one of the best multispecialty hospitals in Chennai, we bring together expert care across specialties.

Had FESS? Your recovery routine matters as much as the procedure.
After Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS), following your doctor’s instructions can support healing and help reduce the risk of infection. Take prescribed medicines and use nasal drops or rinses as advised. Get adequate rest and wear a mask outdoors to limit exposure to dust and pollutants.
For a smoother recovery, avoid blowing your nose in the first few days, heavy lifting and strenuous activity for 2–3 weeks, excessive bending forward, and exposure to dust, smoke and other irritants.

Why do newborn baby boys sometimes have swollen testicles? And when should you be concerned?
Dr. Vankam Aseesh Varma explains that swelling in the sc***um of newborn boys is most commonly caused by a congenital hydrocele, a condition where fluid collects around the testicle.
The good news is that congenital hydrocele usually resolves on its own within 1–1.5 years. If the swelling does not resolve within this period, a consultation with a pediatric surgeon may be needed to determine whether any intervention is required.
If you are looking for specialised pediatric surgical care in Chennai, Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals is here for you.
