Celebration of International Day of Rural Women organised at tribal villager near Mettupalayam Coimbatore : The Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Foundation for Research in Women’s Wellness and Development (SRH FORWARD) organized “Celebration of International Day of Rural Women” for the rural tribal community women at Kallar, Mettupalayam.

Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Foundation For Research in Women’s Wellness And Development (SRH FORWWAD) hosts “CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RURAL WOMEN” today (15th October 2018) for the rural tribal community women at Kallar –Mettupalayam. We had about 100 tribal women who was part of the program, where we had Dr . Vijaya Bhargavi R of Gynecology Department from our Hospital had sensitized the community women on Personal and Menstrual Hygiene and session on Self Examination of Breast Cancer was undertaken.

Ms. Aparna. M.A – Senior Programme Coordinator of SRH FORWWAD sensitized on the ill effects of using cloth during periods, especially the use of it in non hygiene manner. It is also noticeable that the incidence of sanitary pad usage at this location was lower and also in other rural areas, especially among those from Scheduled Tribes. Generally 71% women used cloth in rural areas as did 75.4% of those belonging to Scheduled Tribes.

Following the Session, doctors examined all the Women who had complaints and problems, were most of the women were found anemic, irregular me**es and gynecology issues .As a take away gift for Rural Tribal Women of Kallar, the team distributed free Sanitary Napkins and small containers as a token of gift to the community. We had few disabled women from the community who had come for visiting the doctors as a part of our “1st RURAL WOMEN HEALTH WELLNESS PROGRAM”.

SRH FORWWAD organised a Hemoglobin Testing Camp at SRCAS campus as on 9th October 2018 to identify the Prevalence of Iron Deficiency Anemia among adolescent girls in Coimbatore City hosted by the Women Cell of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science .

Hemoglobin Test was taken for about 500+ Girls in less than 240 minutes ,where the girls with less that 9gm/dl were made aware and guidance were given for increase and maintaining minimum level of HB level.

We loudly say MENSTRUATE WITH PRIDE !!

Dr.Kanmani - Gynacologist of Sri Ramakrishna Hospitals addressing all 700 Girl Students of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science on MENTURAL & PERSONAL HYGIENE which was organised by Women Cell of SRCAS along with SRHFORWWAD(Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Foundation For Research In Women Wellness And Development ) as on 05 .10.2018. The Session was very simple and informative for the Girl students and felt that its a need of an hour to know their own body and its changes.

Ms.Aparna .M.A - Senior Program Coordinator- Women Program Coordinator, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital who broke that ice of shyness among girls to speak out on the Personal hygiene and allowed the students to write in a piece of paper, their queries and then our Dr.Kanmani clarified all every little doubt of theirs. Ms.Aparna.M.A also gave a brief awareness on the Services like Mamogram and Pap Smear test that was available free for this month of October offered by Sri Ramakrishna Hospitals, where the students were told to spread the message to their families and friends who required a checkup.
