Delhi may soon put brakes on the rising number of e-rickshaws 🚖⚡
For the first time, the Delhi government is planning to cap e-rickshaw registrations at 2.5 lakh under the draft EV Policy 2.0, aiming to tackle traffic congestion, road safety concerns and illegal operations across the city.
Here’s what the proposal includes 👇
🔹 Maximum cap of 2.5 lakh e-rickshaws
🔹 No new registrations beyond the limit unless revised later
🔹 One licence = One e-rickshaw rule
🔹 Only Delhi residents may be eligible for registration
🔹 Crackdown on illegal e-rickshaws expected
🔹 Scrapping incentives of up to ₹35,000 proposed
Officials say Delhi currently has over 2 lakh registered e-rickshaws, while illegal numbers could push the total above 4 lakh.
But here’s the bigger question 👀
Will capping e-rickshaws actually reduce traffic congestion? And if last-mile connectivity depends heavily on them, what’s the real solution for commuters? Share your thoughts below 👇

Travel to Kedarnath, Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib has been temporarily suspended due to continuous heavy rainfall and unsafe weather conditions in Uttarakhand.
According to officials, pilgrim movement has been halted as a precautionary measure after rain triggered concerns over landslides, road blockages and route safety in districts including Rudraprayag and Chamoli. Devotees are currently being stopped at designated checkpoints until weather conditions improve and routes are cleared.
Authorities have advised pilgrims to avoid proceeding towards the shrine routes without checking the latest travel advisories, as road conditions and weather remain unpredictable.
Important to note: This is a temporary suspension and not a cancellation of the yatra.

Delhi-NCR’s roads could soon look very different. From new expressway links and underground tunnels to elevated corridors and signal-free routes, the government has announced multiple mega infrastructure projects aimed at reducing congestion and improving connectivity across the region.
Key areas like IGI Airport, Kalindi Kunj, Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan and Gurugram routes are set to benefit from projects worth thousands of crores, including new links connecting Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, UER-2, Noida and Faridabad.
Some of the biggest projects include an 8-km tunnel from Dwarka Expressway to Vasant Kunj, a 20-km elevated corridor between AIIMS and Gurugram, and new service roads to improve local connectivity.
While most projects are expected to begin construction between late 2026 and 2027, the vision is clear — faster commutes, less congestion and a more connected Delhi-NCR.
Would these projects finally solve Delhi’s traffic problem? 🚧🚗
