Minoxidil isn’t magic—and it definitely isn’t as simple as “apply and wait.” 👀

From initial shedding to “dependence,” there’s a LOT of misinformation around this drug.

A few things to remember:
✨ Shedding ≠ necessarily worsening
✨ More ≠ better
✨ Results take time
✨ Not every hair loss needs minoxidil
✨ Topical ≠ side-effect free

The most important step? Know the cause of your hair loss before you start treating it.

Save this for your next minoxidil spiral—and send it to someone who’s thinking of starting it. 🫶

Did you take your serum advice from an Instagram acne expert?
Rethink your choices. 🫠

3 months of niacinamide for “acne scars” because a reel promised results in 3 weeks… and absolutely nothing changed.

Because sometimes the problem isn’t the serum — it’s treating the wrong problem.

🔹 Active acne? Control that first.
🔹 Acne scars? Identify the type before choosing treatment.
🔹 Some scars need resurfacing/collagen-inducing procedures, not another serum.

Your skin deserves a diagnosis, not a viral skincare hack.

Before you follow an Instagram acne expert, see a dermatologist. 🩺

Influenced into trouble: when Zaalim actually lives up to its name. 🥲

A fungal infection on the face → advice from the internet → Zaalim lotion → and now we have tinea + irritant contact dermatitis. 🫠

The problem? Not every itchy, scaly patch is tinea, and even when it is, not every antifungal/“fungus lotion” is appropriate for facial skin.

Ingredients like phenol, iodine and salicylic acid can cause significant irritation, especially when used on sensitive facial skin.

So please don’t let a viral recommendation become your dermatological diagnosis.
Get the diagnosis right before you treat the rash.

And yes… 10/10 name. Very on-brand. 😂

The before-after you see didn’t happen overnight.✨✨

This patient developed acneiform eruptions following steroid abuse, and aggressive treatment wasn’t the answer.

The skin first needed time to settle before we could introduce active treatment.

Treatment was graded and gradually stepped up, allowing the skin to adapt while we worked towards clearer, healthier skin.

Because good results aren’t about doing everything at once.
They’re about doing the right things, in the right order, at the right pace.

So if you’re expecting your skin to change in a week — patience is part of the prescription. 🤍

Avoid using steroid-containing creams on the face without dermatological supervision. If you’ve developed acne or a rash after using a steroid/combination cream, get evaluated by a dermatologist.

Retinoids + facial waxing? 🚨 That’s a combination your skin may not appreciate.

If retinol, retinal, isotretinoin or exfoliating acids are part of your routine, think twice before booking that wax.

When skin is sensitised by these treatments, waxing can cause epidermal stripping, erosions, burns and post-inflammatory pigmentation.

Using a retinoid? Don’t guess your waxing gap. Talk to your dermatologist about when to pause and when to restart.

And if you’re dealing with recurrent facial hair, don’t keep waxing your way through it. Ask your dermatologist whether laser hair reduction is a better long-term option for you.

Your skin deserves a plan, not trial and error.

Are you also waxing your face without looking at your actives in skincare?

The Emolene Conundrum 👀

A great moisturiser.
A viral skincare favourite.
But is it great for every skin?

That’s where skincare gets complicated.

Emolene may work beautifully for many people, but some acne-prone skin may not tolerate its formulation as well. One product simply cannot be the answer for everyone.

And when Instagram turns “this worked for me” into “this will work for you”… that’s where the trouble begins.

Viral ≠ universal.

Don’t let Instagram decide what your skin needs.

He thought he had acne. He was actually treating a fungal folliculitis. 👀

Three months of isotretinoin later… still no improvement.

This is why self-diagnosing from Instagram can get expensive — wrong diagnosis → wrong treatment → wasted time (and sometimes unnecessary medication).

Not every bump is acne.

Reels can educate. They can’t diagnose.

Don’t be misled. Get your skin properly assessed.

“But I saw it on Instagram…” 👀

And that’s exactly where things can go wrong.

A skincare reel can give you information.
It cannot see your skin, assess your acne, or decide what treatment you need.

In this case, months of “trying what I saw online” meant lost time + ongoing acne + atrophic acne scars.

Reels can educate. They can’t diagnose.
Don’t be misled. 🫶🏻

Influenced Into Trouble — Story 01
Because not everything that’s trending belongs on your skin.

Your skincare routine doesn’t need to look like a Sephora shelf to be effective. 😌

Sometimes, skincare marketing works by making you fear what you use, distrust what already works, or feel insecure about things you never even noticed before.

And suddenly, your simple, perfectly functional routine feels… inadequate.

More products ≠ healthier skin.

So before adding the next “must-have” to your cart, ask yourself:

“Do I actually need this… or have I just been convinced that I do?”

Because sometimes, the only thing getting a glow-up is your shopping cart. 🛒✨

Not filler. Not a filter. Just a little boost for your skin. ✨

Skin boosters are designed to improve skin quality—not change your facial features.

💧 Dehydrated, dull skin
✨ Loss of glow & radiance
〰️ Fine lines & early textural changes
🌿 Rough or uneven texture
🪞 Skin that looks tired despite a good skincare routine

Think “better skin” rather than “different face.”

Because sometimes your skin doesn’t need more volume—it needs better hydration and skin quality. 💉✨
