World Hepatitis Day 2026 was observed at Karimganj Civil Hospital by NHM Sribhumi under the theme "Hepatitis: Let's Break It Down."
Dr. Matindra Sutradhar, Joint Director of Health Services, urged people to opt for early testing and timely treatment. It was also highlighted that FREE Hepatitis diagnostic testing and treatment are available at Karimganj Civil Hospital.
The programme was attended by Dr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury (DNO, AYUSH), Suman Choudhury (District Media Expert), Sumit Roy (District Epidemiologist), Nursing Trainees and Urban ASHAs.

Strengthening Community Health across Multiple Areas
Village Health, Sanitation & Nutrition Committee (VHSNC) meetings were conducted across various areas under R.K. Nagar CHC, with active participation from ASHA workers, ANMs, PRI members, community representatives and other committee members.
The meetings were held at:

π A New Smile, A New Beginning
A heartwarming success story from Sribhumi reflects the power of early identification, timely referral and specialized care under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).
Moriom Md Sajmin, a young girl from Hizim, Dasgram, Sribhumi, was identified with cleft palate during routine school/Anganwadi health screening by the RBSK Mobile Health Team of Girishganj BPHC. Following identification, she was referred to DEIC, Karimganj Civil Hospital, Sribhumi, for further evaluation and support.
With continuous counselling, guidance and coordinated efforts by the RBSK team, DEIC Sribhumi and Mission Smile, Guwahati, Moriom was linked for specialized treatment and successfully underwent corrective surgery.
Today, she is recovering well with renewed confidence, a brighter smile and new hope for a healthier future.
This journey highlights the importance of regular RBSK screening, early detection, timely referral and collaborative healthcare efforts in transforming the lives of children.

πΆ Strengthening Child Health Services through Continuous Monitoring
A team from National Health Mission, Assam, comprising Dr. Jadumani Kataky, Consultant, Child Health, and Mr. Manish Agarwal, Consultant, UNICEF, along with representatives from the Gates Foundation, visited Karimganj Civil Hospital on 14th July 2026 as part of Child Health Programme monitoring.
During the visit, the team reviewed labour room practices, assessed child health services, interacted with healthcare providers and held detailed discussions on strengthening service delivery and improving the quality of care.
The visit focused on ensuring better maternal and newborn care, promoting safe delivery practices, strengthening facility-based child health services and supporting timely interventions for improved health outcomes.

Healthy Families, Healthy Future.
The National Health Mission (NHM), Sribhumi, in collaboration with IPAS Development Foundation, observed World Population Day 2026 at the Conference Hall of Karimganj Civil Hospital with enthusiastic participation from health officials, Urban ASHAs, and members of Mahila Arogya Samitis (MAS).
The programme focused on Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancies (HTSP), emphasizing the importance of voluntary family planning, informed reproductive choices, and quality maternal healthcare to ensure healthier mothers, healthier children, and stronger communities.

SUCCESS STORY | A New Smile, A New Beginning!
Every child deserves the chance to smile with confidence. Today, District Health Society, Sribhumi proudly shares the inspiring journey of Sahanaj Begum, whose life was transformed through timely identification, referral, and specialized treatment under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).
Born with a Cleft Palate (PF Codeβ3), Sahanaj faced challenges in speaking, eating, and social interaction. Her family was unaware that this condition could be treated through timely medical intervention.
On 29th August 2025, during a routine health screening conducted by the RBSK Mobile Health Team at Girishganj BPHC, Sahanaj was identified with the condition and referred to the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC), Sribhumi. Following counselling and evaluation, she was linked to Mission Smile, Guwahati, where she successfully underwent corrective surgery on 2nd September 2025.
Today, Sahanaj smiles with confidence, is recovering well, and looks forward to a healthier, happier future. Her story is a shining example of how early screening, timely referral, and quality healthcare can change a child's life forever.

Strengthening Maternal Healthcare through PublicβPrivate Partnership
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the District Commissioner, Sribhumi, with the proprietors of private Clinical Establishments providing Ultrasonography (USG) services for pregnant women.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the Health Department and private USG centres to ensure accessible, timely and affordable antenatal diagnostic services for expectant mothers across Sribhumi district.
The discussion also emphasized the need for transparent and affordable USG service rates for pregnant women, along with a coordinated framework to support safe motherhood and improve pregnancy outcomes.
The meeting was attended by the Branch Officer (Health), Joint Director of Health Services, Additional Health Officer, District Programme Manager, NHM, and other district-level officials.
