For a Deep Winter, patterns need presence.

Think strong contrast, rich saturated colour and prints with enough visual weight to echo your naturally deep, high-contrast colouring.

And no, the pattern won’t overwhelm you. Quite the opposite. When the contrast and intensity of a print match your own, you wear the pattern. The pattern doesn’t wear you.

65 years of seeing things differently. 👓

Federico Mondello describes Mondelliani in three words: “Colour, elegance and surprise.”

He had me at colour.

But what really caught my attention about this Roman family business is how three generations have moved between photography, art, optics and design, while always coming back to the person behind the glasses.
From a photography studio opened by Luigi Mondello on Via del Pellegrino in 1961 to the Mondelliani of today, this is a very Roman story about seeing, and being seen.

Every now and then, when I’m lucky, I come across a book that changes the way I think. Luminous Spaces was one of those books. I thought I was picking up a book on Feng Shui.
Instead, it introduced me to the fascinating field of biophilic design, challenged the way I thought about colour, and even influenced many of the decisions we made while renovating our home, from the color palettes we chose to the layout of our living room during our home renovation.

Re-reading it recently reminded me just how much it had illuminated my thinking, not only about Feng Shui, but also about colour, environmental psychology, and the relationship between ourselves and the spaces we inhabit.
