The FCT Police Command has officially rescued 36-year-old Grace Aniekuoku and arrested her brother, Chinedu Aniekuoku, following a formal operational briefing by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi.

On June 12, 2026, the FCT Police Command received a critical distress call regarding a woman held in captivity.Forceful Entry: Detectives from the Katampe Division were immediately deployed to the residence.

Upon arrival, Chinedu Aniekuoku behaved aggressively and tried to deny the police access to the property. Officers forced their way inside to extract the victim.

Police found Grace chained in a dark room described as highly unsanitary, where she had been forced to live amidst her own physical waste. She was severely emaciated and completely unable to walk due to prolonged muscle atrophy.

While early community reports and video accounts estimated her confinement lasted between two to four years, official police tracking confirms she was held in chains for over 16 months (approximately 1 year and 4 months).

Local testimonies indicate that the siblings jointly started a successful cement business. To stop Grace from claiming her financial share and real estate assets, Chinedu falsely labeled his sister as mentally unstable to justify locking her away.

During initial statements, there was confusion regarding a missing child, with early community footage alleging a missing daughter. The official police update clarified that authorities are actively searching for Grace’s young son, who was taken to an unknown location roughly two years ago.

Preliminary investigations suggest Chinedu may have locked Grace up specifically to stop her from investigating her son’s sudden disappearance.

Grace was rushed by police operatives to a nearby hospital. She is currently undergoing intensive medical treatment and psychological rehabilitation to recover from severe physical trauma and isolation.

Chinedu Aniekuoku remains in police custody. The FCT Command has announced that he will face formal prosecution in court for unlawful confinement, deprivation of personal liberty, and severe assault as soon as the investigation concludes.

The healthy looking and well nourished woman, inflicted these injuries to the boy in Anambra State. From the picture, you already know he is not her child. The boy was brought as a househelp to her. They are from the same village and I cannot begin to imagine why a mother would inflict this type of injuries on another's child.
Look at her own children. Well nourished and robust. This boy grabbed the drink and snack he was given with both hands and tears in his eyes. Why should a man and woman stay in the same house and decide to maltreat a child under their care while pampering their own?

Why do most women go out of their way and insist on getting a househelp who is a child, sometimes younger than their own first child. What is really your aim? Why not employ an adult nanny and pay them accordingly for their services?

If you ask them, they will say it is to avoid their husband going after the maid. But your husband is inside the market doing worse things. Are you there with him?
