On September 7, 1936, Charles Hardin Holley was born in Lubbock, Texas.
Today Buddy Holly would have turned 90 years old.
His career lasted an incredibly short time, yet his influence on Rock ’n’ Roll has lasted for generations. With his unmistakable voice, his Fender Stratocaster and those iconic black glasses, Buddy helped change the sound and the image of popular music forever.
Songs such as “That’ll Be the Day,” “Peggy Sue,” “Oh, Boy!,” “Rave On” and the beautiful “Words of Love” became part of Rock ’n’ Roll history — and inspired countless musicians who followed.
He was only 22 years old when we lost him on February 3, 1959.
Today, 90 years after his birth, his music still sounds wonderfully alive.

On this day in 1955, Elvis Presley gave his beloved mother, Gladys, an unforgettable gift: his now-legendary pink Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60.
There was just one little problem… Gladys didn’t drive! ❤️ So Elvis continued to use the Cadillac himself, often traveling in it with members of his band throughout 1955 and 1956.
More than just a beautiful car, the Pink Cadillac became one of the most recognizable symbols of Elvis’ incredible rise from a young Memphis singer to the King of Rock ’n’ Roll.
The car remained in the Presley family and today can still be admired at Graceland — a wonderful piece of rock ’n’ roll history. 🎸👑

On this day in 1958, 18-year-old Ricky Nelson officially kicked off his concert career with an appearance at the legendary Steel Pier in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Ricky was already one of America's biggest teenage stars thanks to The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet and a string of hit records, but what happened at the Steel Pier showed just how enormous his popularity had become.
Over two days, an incredible 44,221 people came to see him perform — setting an all-time attendance record for the venue!
And Ricky was paid $10,000 for the engagement — a remarkable fee for an 18-year-old in 1958.
Also appearing on the bill were comedian Henny Youngman and The Four Preps.
From television teen idol to genuine Rock 'n' Roll star, Ricky Nelson was beginning a concert career that would keep him on the road for decades.
