Markets in Kilifi county.
I had the same excitement going to the mtondia market just like the first time I went to Mkoroshoni market.
I sell cosmetics & beauty products at glochammy beauty products stores alongside very classy & elegant thrift clothes commonly known as mtumba in kenya.
On this Friday I decided to take my thrift clothes to Mtondia market. At exactly 8.00am I was at the venue.
The shock was too painful to absorb.
I saw only one mtumba vendor & I was the second one. The place was completely deserted. I have never felt like the early bird who catches the worm like that day. I was the bird of the moment & unfortunately the worms weren't around to catch.
The worms came around 4-5pm when there were already hundreds of other late comer birds 😂😂.
Also the main customers of Mtondia market are students from primary & high school, mixed with women around the reproductive age & a pinch of men.
The experience wasn't bad but I blame my high expectations.
