Zardi-ye man az to, sorkhi-ye to az man
زردیِ من از تو، سرخیِ تو از من
A natural translation is: “My pallor to you, your redness to me.” In context, zardi means more than literal yellowness. It carries the sense of weakness, sickness, fatigue, or winter-worn dullness. Sorkhi is redness, but also vigor, warmth, healthy color, and life-force. The act is a symbolic exchange made while jumping over fire on Chahārshanbe Suri.
