"My love, you're beautiful, you look stunning. Stop putting too much pressure on your body so as to please people. I love you the way you are and nothing will ever change that".

I turned around and saw my husband. That's the first time I've ever heard such beautiful words regarding my body. He had just come from the bathroom and saw me crying, standing in front of the mirror. Several dresses I was trying to fit were scattered on the floor.

I had lost hope of having a sexy body and no clothes seemed to fit me well, no matter how beautiful or expensive they were. This is because my body looks like an inverted triangle. This means my upper body is bigger. Wider shoulders, chest and b***s while my lower body is smaller. Practically no hips and butt.

This had made me hate myself ever since I was in high school. I was mostly laughed at by some girls because of my body type.

I can recall very well one day I was talking with a certain boy and a group of girls passed by and one of them confronted me by shouting, " leave my boyfriend alone. You think you can steal my boyfriend with this shape? You look like a frog".

With that last statement, I walked off with tears in my eyes and promised myself that I will never try talking with any boy at school. I became a loner and an introvert.

Throughout university, I avoided dating because I knew I wouldn't be loved genuinely. With time , I met my current husband and we got married. However, there was a constant reminder in my mind that I was not sexy enough and that my husband will one day leave me for a sexy woman.

The insecurities I had were too much until one day I asked my husband why he had married me even though my body was not appealing. To my surprise,my husband told me that I was beautiful inside and outside and that I should " ACCEPT MY BODY".

I've always admired being curvy like most of the women whom I come across daily. I know that I've never posted my full picture online. I only post selfies because of my insecurities.

I've tried extreme measures like starving myself or eating some specific foods to achieve that sexy body. Nothing seemed to work and I felt more frustrated.

Fast forward to the day when my husband saw me crying in front of the mirror. He told me that if I'm not going to love and accept myself, we were going to have a divorce.

That was like a wake up call from a deep slumber. I called myself to a meeting and decided to live my life fully. Free from comparison and anxiety and sadness. I decided I must embrace my body and dress according to my body shape.

One year down the line, I feel better and even got a promotion at work. I've created meaningful relationships that have boosted my confidence and self esteem.

That's why I've created this page to talk to you who might be facing body insecurities and your social and private life has been affected because of your body genes.

I used to hate my body, my shape and the way I looked. And for sure, my body responded negatively because I couldn't take care of it well. Frequent body pains, unnecessary weight gain and acne all over my face.
On the other hand, when I finally accepted my body, I started taking good care of myself and my body responded positively and I feel better now 😍🙏

Studies have shown that approximately 87% of women are not comfortable with their body shapes.

Also, it's only 5% of women who are believed to naturally possess an hourglass shape that has been portrayed by the society and social media as the ideal figure.

This means that most women have resorted to or desire to go to extreme measures to have their bodies become attractive and be accepted in our today's society.

But what I can tell you is that regardless of the body shape you have ,you can dress it up and be attractive without going to those extreme measures that in the long run affect our bodies physically mentally.

It's not all about having nyash but rather understanding your body, accepting it the way it is and dressing accordingly.

I myself I'm an apple shaped woman, with broader shoulders, fuller chest, rounder waist but a relatively smaller hips and butt. For a long time, I have been struggling and wishing that my shape could be different . For a long time I wished that I could have an hourglass shape that's desirable by the society.

I've only come to realise that I can't do much to change my body and it's time to rise and accept my body as it is, dress accordingly and conquer the world.

Those ladies who can relate with my struggles you're welcome. Let's look beautiful, confident and conquer the world!
