Ladies and gents πŸ€—

I want to talk about what moisturizing of natural hair really means to me. Let's keep one thing clear.. water equals moisture! Everything else is by product. So when ur told to moisturize ur hair, you should not be afraid to drench it.. literally!

True moisturizing of natural hair means making sure ur hair is cleaned and detoxed oftenly before putting in your treatment. I wash my hair once a week (or two depending on my schedule) whether it's plaited or not and my reasoning is this; nothing can take in moisture if it's blocked off by layers of product.
I like making my own treatment from scratch and I keep it really simple. Check out different DIY hair treatments online and choose what's right for you. The other alternative is to get a store bought treatment. You should also do protein treatment at least once a month in order to retain strength and buoyancy.

I check the ingredients of any hair products I buy and this is really important because it determines your hair results in the long run. The less chemicals used, the better the product. All your oils should be pure as well, the best ones are mostly found in the cooking oils section of the supermarket. My holy grail of oils is extra virgin olive oil, it has great benefits and light enough to be applied on all hair types.

Protective styling is critical to length retention and so is trimming of your ends. Your ends are the oldest parts of you hair, they should be treated with a lot of TLC so that they don't break off.. that's how you lose your hair length btw.
You can tuck them in a protective style to keep them safe from breaking off and you need to trim them in order to remove damage which comes from a lot of manipulation, heat and chemical products. This will make your ends healthier and stronger which equals to length retention.

Natural hair is not just a hair style, it's a lifestyle and you have to commit fully in order to see ur desired results. All hair types are beautiful in each of their own ways and all hair types need time and commitment. When you take great care of it, it grows like a beautiful flower and it becomes your crown.
