Director of the Public Authority of Civil Aviation Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah announced Thursday the reopening of airspace at Kuwait International Airport starting Thursday evening.

The decision was made in coordination with relevant international authorities to ensure the resumption of operations in accordance with the highest safety and security standards.

Sheikh Humoud said the step is part of a well-considered, phased plan to gradually resume air traffic in preparation for the airport’s full operation in the coming period.

He added that Authority has completed its assessment of the damage inflicted on some airport facilities as a result of the Iranian attack and the actions of its proxies and affiliated armed groups.

He explained that technical teams have begun maintenance and repair work on operational equipment and infrastructure to ensure full readiness.

He clarified that the initial phase of operations will include specific stations, prioritized according to operational needs that guarantee the safety of operations. Each phase will be continuously evaluated before moving to broader phases.

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he was extending the Iran ceasefire until an Iranian proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded.

Iran's central military command announced on Saturday it would resume "strict management" of the Strait of Hormuz, reversing a decision to unblock the strategic channel as part of negotiations with Washington.

In a statement shared on state television, the headquarters said Washington had broken a promise by continuing its naval blockade of ships sailing to and from Iran's ports.

Until the United States restores freedom of movement for all vessels visiting Iran, "the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain strictly controlled," the statement said.

Progress had been made in negotiations with the United States to end the war, Iran's parliamentary speaker said on Saturday night, but added the sides were still far from an agreement.

"We are still far from the final discussion," Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who is also one of Iran's negotiators, said in a national televised address, adding "we made progress in the negotiations, but there are many gaps and some fundamental points remain".

Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Osama Boodai issued a decision on Monday banning cash transactions of KD 10 or more in some places, where only e-payment transactions should be allowed.

The Ministerial Decision No. 32 of 2026 applies to companies operating in the areas of health clubs (gyms), salons for men, women and children, sports clubs, pest and rodent control firms, and pesticide import, export and storage, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a statement.

The ministry noted that Article I of the Ministerial Decision stipulates that no cash transactions valued at over KD 10 may be conducted when signing contracts, selling commodities or offering services.

Article II states that penalties shall be applied to lawbreakers, with penalties including shutdown and legal action.

Kuwait’s Interior Ministry urges the public to stay at home and avoid leaving unless extremely necessary from 12:00 am to 6:00 am on Wednesday. The call comes as a precautionary measure to protect public safety in light of the current regional developments.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday said Iran had 48 hours left to make a deal on opening the vital Strait of Hormuz or face “Hell.”

“Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, referring to his ultimatum issued on March 26.

“Time is running out - 48 hours before all Hell will reign (sic) down on them,” the president said, adding: “Glory be to GOD!”

Aviation companies and travel agencies are required to issue a full refund for tickets and bookings that were canceled due to the current circumstances, Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority said on Tuesday.

The refund should be issued within 15 days from the date of cancelation, the ministry said in a statement

All bookings that were canceled or not used during the period from February 28, 2026 are eligible for a refund, including non-refundable tickets, it said.
