The gown "Fair Helen" is inspired by the ivory sea spray that fragrances the land so richly in the morning, the white cotton-like clouds of silver-lining which signify the promise of tomorrow and the sun-kissed white sands that are beautifully laden with cream pearls, seashells and other ocean tokens.

Though all shades of white, the color palette is still so diverse that it attests to the range of Helen's beauty. In fact, the many shades mimic the various tones of ivory worn by bright-eyed brides inspired to visit Saint Lucia and forge their martial union amidst the natural beauty of the land. The palette of white, silver, and iridescent used in the hand-beaded details of the gown highlight how pure and celestial Saint Lucia remains.

The culturally-inspired costume "Bèl Flè" is an ode to Lawòz and La Magwit, and an interpretation of the immeasurable value of the iconic flora in traditional fashion and national wears of Saint Lucian women.

The white lace bodice is inspired by the "chimiz décolleté" and the pink and teal checkered waist piece is a playful contemporary twist of the "jip" which is traditionally tailored with checkered madras. The costume is heavily textured by the use of glistening floral applique which clings to the frame of the dress' petticoat, otherwise culturally referred to as the "jipon". And as with tradition, the beauty signals her courtship status through her head crown, otherwise known as the tèt kasé, which is further adorned by the national flowers.

Despite the ravages of time, what remains constant of Saint Lucia is the softness and beauty of these flowers which mirror the softness and beauty of the people and natural land features. This beauty essentially contributes to the country's maintained success in tourism export and related business investments and economic developments.

May Saint Lucia, her beautiful physical features and distinctive cultural characteristics, continue to inspire many as she does our creativity.
