CMYK PART I
Do you know ?
colors is a combination of , , , and . Computer screens display colors using color values. Printers often presents colors using color values. Those are the colours used in the printing process. A printing press uses dots of ink to make up the image from these four colours. βKeyβ actually means black. Itβs called Key because itβs the main colour used to determine the image outcome. Black ink provides depth and shading, whereas the other colours create different colours on the spectrum depending on how they are mixed.
For example, cyan and yellow create a green when one is overlaid on the other. But there's an argument regarding the origin of the term "Key" to indicate black. Some claim that this is because black may be mistaken for blue if represented with the letter "B," however this is improbable. It might be because the black plate on a printing press acts as the "key" plate to align the other three colors to it (so the layers match up perfectly for the final image). This implies that, if black were not being employed, any color plate might theoretically serve as the "K" in this method. Another hypothesis contends that "Key" relates to the extremely old presses from way back in 1843 that used screw keys to calculate how much ink was necessary to get the desired result.
