BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County(July 10, 2026) – Bassa High School has emerged victorious in the Voices Liberia Regional Debate Tournament, earning the right to represent Grand Bassa County at the upcoming national debate championship alongside the county's reigning champion, Drims School System.

The winning team is made up of Desmond Dunn (Captain), Alvin H. Gbawo, Melvin G. Debah, and Diamond P. Dewhen, whose outstanding performances and persuasive arguments propelled them to victory.

Bassa High School clinched the regional title after defeating Buchanan Open Bible Standard High School in a highly competitive final debate on the motion: "This House Would Prioritize Restorative Justice Over Criminal Prosecution for Civil War-Era Offenses."

Throughout the contest, the team demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, confidence, and public speaking skills, impressing both the adjudicators and the audience with well-researched arguments and effective rebuttals.

Their victory marks another incredible milestone for Bassa High School System, the oldest educational institution in Grand Bassa County, reaffirming its longstanding reputation for academic excellence and leadership in extracurricular activities.

With the regional championship secured, Bassa High School now shifts its focus to the national tournament, where it will join Drims School System in carrying Grand Bassa County's hopes of bringing home the national debate title.
